Anyway, with this mindset I was able to get through all of the IB story without failing a single mission and rarely carting... until the final boss at least (which just takes figuring out how to cheese it ;)
Get rid of your damage gear, get stun resistance, health boost, divine blessing and earplugs and the highest elemental weapon for the monster you're killing and you'll get it down in 20 minutes or less easily and you won't die.
If that doesn't work, you just need to play more and get better. But you really should stop blaming a game revolved around your own skill instead of just getting better.
SNS has an “invincible hop” too. It’s my go to solo weapon. There are certain monsters where I can keep spamming a high DPS combo and backhoping through their attacks in between and just keep them staggered in an endless loop of pain and backhopping through attacks. It usually ends when they roar or pull out a “big move”. But it’s really fun keeping a Rath trapped in an un-ending combo and get it limping in the first zone :)
augmented the whole gear and got access to the op endgame weapons or simply already know moveset of most monster, but it doesn't sound as if you are skilled enough if you need 30 mins for one monster.
health augment makes a huge difference, if you haven't to worry about healing anymore.
range weapon have a huge advantage because you can always deal dmg
anjanath hbg for sticky and spread3, tigrex for sticky
later on royal thunder from zino for spread3
narga, viper tobi or legiana for pierce3
zorah for sticky and cluster but you need to know the windows for reloading
sure it has great mobility but it won't do much to you if you can't manage your stamina efficiently and abuse iFrame. def not a beginner friendly weapon and you have to soften up parts for every 90 sec to not deal trash/white dmg. it's best played at near point blank range because spread is OP. if you still want to play bow, slot in 3 vitality boost and augment your armors. even then you'll still get 1hko'ed from having minus resistance or some strong hard hitting flagship and elder dragon monsters.
Mouse and keyboard are just fine. you can rebind almost everything. you just have to git gud
IMO you can focus more on utility and/or defensive skills after you have your core damage skills (as stated, for most weapons this means 80%+ affinity and CB2/3, some may need Handicraft+, Focus 2/3, Artillery 5, and/or Free Element 1/2/3 etc). Then once you have enough utility/defensive skills to have some breathing room in a fight (how much that is depends on your skill and weapon of choice. Personally I mostly use HB3 and then a weapon dependent mix of evasion+, evade extender 2/3, and/or guard+), you can add in some extra damage skills if you can/want.
Remember: the biggest part of how your hunts go is your own personal skill. No legit armor is good enough to make someone invincible, and no weapon is so weak that it can't kill a monster in under 50 minutes (starter weapons would be cutting it close though). Your own skill is the most important thing keeping you in the fight, and your own skill is the most important thing in taking the monster down. Of course, having adequate gear is important too, just less so.
You are undergeared.
You're right, SnS backhop into that new combo awesome. Havent looked into it that much but I will pick it up one of these days.
Try to get a mount as soon as the monster enrages.
Flinch shot the monster 1-2 times before it enrages.
If you’re fighting something with an annoying gimmick like vaal, bring their resistance.
Use health boost 3 atleast as a defensive skill.
Tenderize when you put the temporal mantle on and when the monster is exhausted.
Make sure you’re running the right damage skills for you weapon. What are you using anyway?
That’s about it really. The rest is just the same watch for attacks and figure out how to dodge them or block them.
To me most Re-Joiners like Narga, odogaron, Bazelgeuse and Zinogre have a new abnormally annoying new style in Iceborne. I played without Health Boost and still very offensive skillwise, still, most new monsters feel like cancer, even if I massively enjoyed their previous fight styles. Always very small Attacks that are actually impossible to avoid just to stop your flow or one addiotional hop after attacking (Narga). Or the new Vaal Hazak also feels like cancer. It just isn't fun to play.
So I can fully understand him. I got into endgame only, because it's monster Hunter and I would feel bad for not getting there. However, I'm finished now, as I just cannot enjoy Iceborne style monster fights.
One exception: Glavenus is still an awesome fight.
Btw Guiding Lands has heavily annoying things like cancer to me as well, but that's another topic...
lmao thata quite the contrast
OH YOURE TRYING TO CHANGE IDENTITY ARE YOU NOW
YOU CAN NEVER ESCAPE ME YOU WORTHLEWS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ WANNABE DINO
Don't underestimate the additional 40% damage, it will shorten hunting speed by 2 to 8 times because of the stagger / knock-over mechanics.
If you can't achieve the 6 to 20 minutes with:
Critical Eye Lv7
Weakness Exploit Lv3
Critical Boost Lv3
Then "git gud" is the reason.
