Meta builds f-ked up my fun. (If you are newb, check this)

I was having super fun without checking any meta build, I was building whatever I like and find better. I was doing super fine till I went super curious and check some meta builds. I chased them and tried to do these build just for science. But they all killed my fun, I stop doing my other stuff like collecting ingredients, fishing, catching pets, optional quests and stuff just to farm a neccessary jewel. Seriously ♥♥♥♥ that ♥♥♥♥, If you are new player like me, don't ever check meta builds, we are not here to do speedrun, we are here to have fun, if meta build makes your dps a little bit higher, who ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cares? If your weapon type benefts from raw damage but you want to go elemental, just go for elemental seriously, you may find it more fun with that way. You just focus on having fun, thats all matters in this game. I'm going back to my old ♥♥♥♥, ♥♥♥♥ meta.

No, it isn't.

"Meta" generally means "something of itself", so a "metagame" is a "game of games", or "game within a game", ecetera.

Eg. When playing a collectable card game, what the "game" is will be obvious, but the "metagame" is what deck you choose to use with what cards. Hence where the term "meta" comes in, which decks with what cards are most popular.

"Most Effective Tactics Avaliable" is a neat little retroactive acronym but not the origin of the term. Etymology, son.

now that the lore is out of the way how does this have anything to do with his inability to do anything aforementioned like FISHING or catching small monsters?

It's only a problem if you're posting damage stats unwarranted or calling people out, if it's for personal use it literally doesn't effect you.

It's only a problem if you're posting damage stats unwarranted or calling people out, if it's for personal use it literally doesn't effect you.

The problem isn't meta builds existing but how you approach the builds.

I advise learning what makes meta builds so good (eg. understanding what skills are good, understanding the crit meta, Health Boost 3, ecetera) then allowing your build to naturally evolve as you play with what you pick based on your own avaliability.

I don't play meta builds either generally, I stuck with Kulve Taroth Alpha chestpiece on my main HR set for ages and my builds worked fine, because KT Alpha chestpiece is a really good, efficient piece, it just doesn't cleanly fit into meta so it doesn't get considered for those.


But, someone who understands the fundamentals can make a build that fits them. That's what's important, understanding the fundamentals instead of following a checklist.

Unless you don’t have Iceborne... why are you even still using high rank armor for certain skills?

I don't really like this trend of using meta builds. A lot of people believe that they will be good by using meta builds while most of them are made for speedrunning purposes (and i'm pretty sure most of speedruns vids you see on yt are made after a lot of retries). They forget that something called skills is required. From my experience, a majority of people who uses meta build are most of the time the first ones who gets carted, because they are stunned, or they don't care about healing themselves and rely too much on health regen aug or don't even have it.

I genuinely think we need to bring back severe hostility again in Monster Hunter, just berate people for how bad they are at the game, regardless of what gear they use, because seeing this kind of ♥♥♥♥ weekly is just rarted.

Ignore the meta make your own builds i main hunting horn and i use 11 hunting horns all different builds no need to stick to 1 build 1 weapon so boring it kills the fun for u :)

Why? I'm pretty sure a lot of newcomers only care about their damage, like hell yeah I wanna deal big BIG damage. So when ever this dude post them they are either gonna see it "Aw I didn't do more damage and need better gear or Hell yeah I'm top dps"

Generally the only people who seems to have an issue with this dps meter are veterans of the game who want everyone else play the vanilla only and no changes to the game.

The fun people have can directly come from running meta builds and completely owning the hell out of a monster. I know I like seeing large damage numbers popping up and breaking all of the monsters part and knocking it around.

Lol at you thinking mods have anything to do with that.

If mods where completely banned it would still be the same because of this https://steamcommunity.com/app/582010/discussions/0/1743352529786053251/ if they can't see the damage they can count the minutes and they will go for meta builds to reduce the time it takes.

Are you going to claim that's gonna cause toxicity as well?
