It's mostly just cheesy tactics abuse when it's without those rules.
When it comes to trying to speedrun, I've tried sometimes, with my main weapon (CB) but despite achieving some good times, it stresses me out too much.
Also, I lack consistency. I suck at predicting monsters, I'm only good at reacting in the moment to whatever the monster does, lack of prediction is certainly bad for speedrunning.
I appreciate that that side of the community exists though, in my experience those kinds of players will really pull a dev's ear to fix stuff, and the really good ones tend to have the influence to have their words looked at, which can make for a more reasonable game.
I mostly watch them to pick up a few of their tricks, less concerned with the clear-times. Watching speed-runners is what allowed me to eventually solo behemoth pre-iceborne, BARELY.
My only issue is when people start praising speed-run builds as gospel, and that they are to be adhered to at every expense.
I don't watch any speedruns through or care that much. Praising weapon viability based on speedrun leaderboards or trying to apply any of that into the average Joe's gameplay is just urggghhh to read.
tbf GDQ probably has to deal with time constraints (I've never cared enough to actually watch it, so maybe not). You can probably find various glitchless runs on most games, this is a pretty common complaint.
