Research lvl in monster field guide

Ok, I'm new to MHW and still trying to figure out how some things work in the game.

Can anyone explain to me how I can increase the research lvl for large monsters in the Monster Field Guide? All the bars seem to be full but stuck at Level 0. But I would like to know how to progress in research level so I get additional information for the monsters.

For example I already have killed 8 great Jagras but still at level 0. My hunter rank is 3 I believe.

The research level for the scout flies does increase when tracking monsters which I found out isn't the same thing ofcourse.

It's stupid, but you have to talk to the little buy sitting on the books, left to the spot where you drop off after the quest in astera.
