PSA: Showing Health and Stamina bars

I was doing an egg delivery quest and I was getting chased by aptonoths the whole time. Scared the crap out of me. Anyway I couldn't tell what my Stamina was because it hides it unless you're in combat with a big monster. So while I was running away I dropped the egg from exhaustion 3 times.

I assumed if the Stamina bar was condensed that you weren't using any, like how when you sprint when there's no monsters around. But nope, Stamina goes down and the diamond will flash red when it's nearly empty.

Its really irritating that you can't set your health and Stamina bars to show at all times. Especially coming from generations where you could really customise the HUD however you wanted.

Anyway I found out you tap L1/Left Bumper to see your health and Stamina as bars. I'm not sure what the equivalent key is for kb+m but that's cause I'm not a heretic. Thought this might help some people out.

But the moment you take damage or engange in cboat it reapears and starts draning.
You probably just whare not payng atention.
I maby be wrong thou maby its diferent when you carry eggs.

Good to know thanks. I just guessed my stam to avoid that issue. But I've known some ppl who didn't pay attention and dropped the egg.

I think you are wrong because the little condensed symbol replacing the bar will flash red. I'm pretty sure that means your stamina is low.

Yeah, stamina will drain when not showing. This can be easily seen if you try to climb a large wall while grappling up, since you run out of stamina very quickly this way, and you'll notice after just a few grapples that you'll be out of stamina.

See that's what I thought, but the yellow diamond that shows up when your stamina is hidden does indeed flash red when you're low on stamina. So it actually always drains when transporting an egg even if you're not in combat. I definitely wasn't in combat (small or large monsters) as scoutflies don't scatter when aptonoths are "attacking".

I dropped the egg 3 times because I thought I pressed the wrong button or the aptonoth hitboxes were massive or something, but nope, ran outta stamina.

Being a Monster Hunter game it never actually tells you this and as I stated before, it's really irritating that you can't just have them always on.

The diamond that remains of a collapsed stamina bar pulses dark and bright when your stamina is being used up to about 50% when it will radiate a outwards expanding diamond outline from it thereafter.

You can also hold the button that shows your radial item bar (for controllers its L1 or L2) and it will expand the stamina bar for you to see.

Hold down the L1/LB button, the button that activates your item bar, it will show your health/stamina bar as well as more of the minimap.

Never mind. Stamina drains even when you're just sprinting around. It just drains a lot slower. Hold L1 while sprinting while not in combat and it'll still go down. Makes the whole hiding it thing seem pointless.

If you're still having issues with it you could simply use the Ghillie Mantle. I did that while picking eggs right in front of them and they didn't even aggro me.

That works but don't you sometimes need to travel a ridiculous distance with the egg? e.g. The Wyvern egg in the second area (desert). There's a nearby campfire but you can't enter either entrance of it holding the egg. So you need to run to the other side of the map?! Would the mantle last anything like long enough?

You are somewhat incorrect.

Stamina hides when you are not in combat but it operates the same way.

If you are constantly running, while not in combat, it will still reduce but remain hidden until you are under about 50 or 40% stamina.

Ugh, I remember that one. If you take the correct path, I'm pretty sure the mantle lasts long enough for one trip. After that, you can either risk running across the forest with an angry wyvern nipping at your heels, or just wait for the cooldown to finish and do it again.

There is 0 issues with running the egg in Wildspire Waste to the first camp you have access to. You can run the egg two times with Ghillie still active.
