yeah you should be saving those for your end game armor sets. eq gets outclassed so quickly spending them is pointless atm.
as long as you're not replacing your armor every new monster, you'll not run out.
the best time to use em is when you've got a set you like, but you notice you take a hit from a fairly weak move and it hurts like hell. that extra defense those balls provide will mitigate that and allow you to continue to use that set for longer.
never use it on low rank armor
NEVER!
Just try to get the armor skill Divine Blessing to level3. At level 3 when ever you get hit, you have a chance for the damage to be reduced by 50%.
