Is Paralysis good or bad?
So I just made a lance with paralysis on it, but it seems to be rather rare it procs.

Am I doing something wrong?

Paralysis is a status effect and the way those work is the monster has an invisible bar that fills up as you apply the status, when the bar gets filled the status procs and it gets harder to apply the second time. It eventually reaches a cap but you aren't going to get more than a few status applications per fight, especially in multiplayer where the thresholds are much higher.

here's a helpful link: https://mhworld.kiranico.com/guide/damage#status-attack

Status in MH game builds up on monsters, the paralysis and the value of it you see on your lance is not how likely it is to proc but how much of that status it'll add to a hidden value than once it hits the monsters threshold for it, it'll proc and keep the monster in place for it's duration.

Poison will work alot like this as well as well Blast weapons(But blast is more of a singular explosion that likes to proc more often)

Not really, it adds a little bit of extra damage. It used to be nearly essential on a certain elder dragon but they removed that mechanic in World.

Depending on your weapon poison is essentially hitting the monster 1-3 more times.

It can stack up over time.
And deal damage like some of the stronger atacks in the game.

Depends on the monster. Some are weak to it certain ailments while being strong to others. Also, you can build out your skills (like taking Paralysis Attack) to increase ailment generation rates.

Also, just fyi, the way that status ailments work is that they don't really 'proc'. Instead, imagine that there's an invisible status bar on the monster, and as you attack it with an elemental weapon (lets say paralysis), that bar gradually fills up. Once that bar is full, the status effect activates. That's one of the reason why faster weapons like dual blades are better for elemental builds.

I think poison is always good to have. Especially when going up against elder dragons. Though the damage is less, it's still good sustain damage when ever you're not attack. For example while the monster is moving to another location or there isn't a good opening for a strike. And of course some monsters are more vulnerable to poison than others.

How ever it use to be the ailment of choice when Elderseal wasn't created yet. It basically stops an elder dragon from casting certain abilities like their aura or a really devastating AOE.

Status effects are good and if you got armor boosting them up, they are excelent.

Paralysis is one of my fav ones, build yourself para hammer or charge blade and you'll be able to effortelessly land your big hitters.
