The game relies on Steam's servers to function as a backend in addition to P2P connections. Steam released a new UI that is insanely buggy a couple of months ago. That UI is responsible for MHW players constantly popping up in their friends list as if they just started playing every few minutes.
The problem is, whenever Steam trips over itself, it takes the game with it. The game will instantly boot out the player due to the lost connection to Steam, even if that player's connection to his peers is fine.
I'm looking at my Steam right now, and in the 10 minutes it took me to type this my Steam chat disconnected me 4 times. That would've been 4 seperate possible game disconnects if I were trying to play with other players.
Should check the news tab for starters?
