That's my understanding of it.
If you disconnect u will be alone in the session and keep ur stuff even ur spot will be kept but the other players will disappear.
If you alt+f4 ur game say goodbye to your whole game loot since the Save is after the mission.
The game only auto saves after you've successfully returned from a mission or abandoned it.
But if you fail a quest you keep all gathered stuff, but you just won't get any added quest rewards.
For some reason I was thinking of DC as being booted from the game but I remember this game just puts you in singleplayer.
If you return to HQ from the Menu, you get to keep whatever you get in the quest while losing whatever potions etc. that you used.
But if you Abandon a quest from the menu, everything is reset to the state before you enter the quest.
Lastly, if your game crashes or what sort mid game, obviously you are losing progress and load your last save.
had a full party or less, you might as well quit because the game still registers you as within the party and get half the payout.
But it only cuts the money down not the loot, so if you were midfight it is best to just try and finish it. In worst case you fail but you still keep the rewards. And in most cases you can down the monster for the full rewards.
Return- items used in quest are consumed, but items gathered will be in your inventory.
