Anything honestly, low rank armor aren't really geared to being effective. Just grab anything that has high DEF.

As a cruel twist of fate, the best armor against a monster is often the armor made from the monster. But put simply, anything with fire resistance wouldn't hurt.

This one works great, or if you could try to farm Rathalos, but guess that won't be an option either if you can't get past Anajanath.

For the rest learn to dodge his moves and if he gets you mostly because of the bulldozer charge go for the armor that gives you most physical defense, if it is his flamebreath go with a high fire resist.

Kulu Ya-ku has some fire resistance to it and works fine. Basically, any monster's armor is fine for Anjanath as long as it has some Fire Resistance or at least isn't weak to fire. Also grab some elemental resistance food in the cantine before heading out to the mission. It helps a little.

Bone is cheap and fine, but the most important thing is to evade the attacks.

pick your favorite armor (preferably with fire resistance) and pump up all the armor spheres you have on it. those spheres are gonna be obsolete real quick anyway (there will be higher ranked versions later on).

I used bone armor upgraded to level 6 and an iron hammer with poison damage, had no real problems with him.

resistance doesn't matter, just take the highest armor value armor you have. I think I had around 80ish armor when i fought him.
