I had got an urgent call and had to leave quickly and was rather surprised over how hard it is to actually quit this game, especially for the type of game it is...

Here is what worked for me:
1) ALT + CTRL + DEL
2) Task Manager & Select Monster Hunter process
3) Press End Task ┌∩┐┌∩┐
4) ???
5) PROFIT

you can put step 1 and 2 together by using CTRL + Shift+ ESC

This alone made me laugh my ass off the first time I tried to quit the tutorial. I knew then I was in for a "less than the best it can be" PC port.
