Question about that: Does me using certain weapons increase that weapon's power or is it purely based on the upgrades I put in it?
Best way I found to farm them is the flying monsters near the quicksand area in the wastes.
They don't run away when you hit them (they do scream loud which may attract a diablos so bring dung bullets to chase him away).
Either drop raw meat to attract them down and kill them or hit them with the slinger, hook onto them then jump off and do a jumping Y attack with something like the long sword. with some practice you'll clip them every time and can finish them off with slinger shots.
Or use a bowgun I guess.
I have a lot of Kulu materials to use in crafting, I think I have encountered them in the forest.
You can get investigations for it there as well.
I think perhaps kulu might switch after a certain point in the story.
