What is with the constant steam notifications!?
I constnantly get steam notifications of people on my friend list playing this game. It is not beacause they go in and out of the game. And the problem is not on my end beacause i have a lot of other friends that plays other games right now and i only get a notification for them entering the game ONCE. What is with this SH*T !?

The new steam chat UI is causing lots of disconnecting. Either they are disconnecting and you are getting the alert when they get logged back in or you're disconnecting and getting an alert of who is playing what when you reconnect.

It's not the new Steam UI, you dimwit.
Check other similar threads and you'll know it's the game that's broken.

It seems to only be an issue with MHW constantly giving notifications. No other Steam game is doing this for me at least.

And the people that it's giving the notifications for aren't even disconnecting or anything; hell it was giving me notifications that my friend was playing numerous times and we were both playing together in his session the whole time.

That's just a placebo effect. The issue will remain until the game is fixed.

I'm not telling you this for the sake of fixing this issue.
  1. Close Steam.
  2. Edit the Steam shortcut and add
    -nochatui -nofriendsui
to the end of the target field.
  3. Start Steam using that shortcut.

Follow these instructions

https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/comments/96h8w5/a_potential_solution_for_constant_disconnections/

Try -udp first, if it doesn't get better or it gets worse, switch it with -tcp. Just played 11 hours with zero problems.

The new UI was a switch to websocket. This happened after development. There are parts of the game integrated to work with steam, such as the primary group function. Don't be an ass just because you "checked out similar threads".

Judging by Capcom's announcement when they stated they were looking into the issue it's possible that it's a combination of the game and Steam. They said they were working with VALVE to resolve the issue. As for the notifications on my end the Chat system for Steam disconnected constantly since the game released since i have the game. I doubt this happens to everyone else but yeah.

If you follow the instructions in that reddit post I linked, it should stop the notifications and your connection problems.

No idea, I don't get the problem.
( The point in me saying that is that it's not EVERY Steam client that misbehaves ).

Seems like Steam new UI launched after game was finished and Capcom did not have chances to adjust to new websocket. So it's indeed combination of game and of Steam new UI.

Only happens with friends who play monster hunter, it keeps showing them as playing it every now and then despite them never closing the game. No other game that my friends play does that.
Less to do with the new steam friends UI, more to do with MHW
