How to join SOS?
Haven't played this before and I'm wondering how you join people looking for help. I'm not seeing any option for it.

Go to Questboard -> Join Quests -> Looking for SOS signal

Basically you join a room, sos and then when you select a mission that had an SOS sent out, you join, now there is a little waittime since it needs to load it but some times it's right away.. you just press whatever it is on your keyboard to depart on quest when it's showing the party on the top left of the screen. I use controller so, it's back on the controler for me, i don't know about Keyboard.

Let me answer your question with a question: Have you ever seen any other players joining online sessions you create? If you play for hours in your own session and you never see other players join the session in the chat log, odds are you won't see SoS calls and nobody will see yours, because of NAT on your router. You may need to open up certain ports for this feature to get through.

However you should still be able to join SoS requests by following the steps Taro posted.

have you advanced a bit into the story where it tells you about sos? and you need to create your session online firt before you join a quest.

If you're not connected to an online session that option won't be available. You can get disconnected due to inactivity or a network error. But you also can't use the SoS feature until after the first few quests.

If it's a quest thing, I'm not sure if I have it unlocked yet. I just did the big set peice quest with Zorah Magdaros. Does SOS unlock after that?

The game tells you when SOS becomes available. But it's way before you ever actually do a quest for that elder dragon.

There are certain conditions before SoS flares can be fired off in a quest but theres no reason you shouldn't be able to do it.
