Failed to join quest

I convinced my friend to buy the game today, so he is understandably behind.

I've been trying to join him on the quests where I can't join until he gets through the cutscenes.

However, I'd assume once he's able to fire an SOS flare, I can join him that way. But when he does, and I see his game in the SOS list, it says "Failed to join quest".

Is this just an issue with the servers or can I not join him at all?

I have the same problem with friends trying to join me. I tried using a VPN, but to no avail.

Could it be he set his session to similar hunter rank so you're too high?

This game is a joke. I'm having the same exact issue with my brother and I on the same exact quest and same HR. To hell with this. I'm going back to the other games. They're simple, the design is better with no stupid cut scenes and you just pick it up and go

It's a server issue. Happened to me with my friends as well but when connection flows everything goes back to normal.

This is still an issue, the servers are obviously not handling something correctly to make it joinable after a cutscene.

Maybe try making a lobby with just you two in it. Then get him to post the mission with two slots (and pw it maybe).

Then when he gets to the part in the mission where it says he can sent a flare you should just be able to join the mission from "join mission" (or what ever its called).

Dont need todo the flair stuff.

That is how me and my mate have been playing. We both start at the same time doing teh above and the first person to "you can send a flair" part just drops out and waits for the other to get there.
