The item wheel, how the f does it work?

First and most importantly, Im super frustrated right now, so Im an easy target for trolling. Give me your best fking shot.

Ive been trying to figure out how the shortcut wheel works. Being able to quickly select something specific. However, holding Q, opens a 2nd menu. Then I have to move my hand from my mouse COMPLETELY, to use the arrows to select which shortcut I want to use.

Then, while still holding Q, I try to select something from the wheel. Awkwardly pressing W A D S will select the top, right, bottom or left. However, nothing seem to work for selecting anything else.

I thought simply holding Q, and selecting with the mouse was how it was going to work? This system is fcking dumb, and it doesnt work. I dont care that its a console port originally, its still frustrating as hell

PLEASE someone tell me Im missing something, or Im gonna flip my fking LID!

You dont have to use it btw you can turn it off.

Here's a guide I made that helps you change it from the wheel(controller setup) to the F1-F4 setup for keyboard, how to change the items, loadouts and external keybinds.

You ddont need to hold Q if you said it to keyboard

All you need to use is mousehweel and press e.

Not holding Q.

First rule about item wheel.

Go into the options and change it to use items on button press rather than automatically on release.

That said I'm hazy on the interaction with KB+M for that option.. It could very well be screwy.

Honestly use a controller, or get one if you don't have one. PC gaming means having a controller handy for games with trash KB+M controls (even though we deserve better porting)

As grateful as I am for your help with that, I cant for the love of God believe we need to go through such a long guide for something this fcking simple. The UI and menus in this game are downright horrible.
