Was/Is there a way to "win" the Zorah Magdaros quest?

The first "big" quest where u try to stop the elder dragon "Zorah Magdaros".
I failed all the objectives,
i didnt stop him,
i wasnt able to destroy the magma core and
i wasnt able to drive of this "demon dragon think".
Was/Is there a way to "win" the quest.

Nope, you can do as good as you want but big brother is breaking through them planks. Don't sweat it, you'll get a winnable shot at him eventually.

Yeah, there is. Destroy the 3 magma cores on time, one in the middle, one on the back, and one on his head. However, you can't kill the dragon there. But outside of that, everything else is doable. Make sure you restrain it with the balista ontop of the wall. But you don't kill it here though.

nah the thing can go trhough mountains and the idiot admiral thinks he can stop it with a wooden palisade

you can destroy his cores though and while you are at it collect some of those ores.

1. There's 4 cores.
2. The story is linear.
3. You don't really need to do anything. You can't exactly 'fail' the quest.

However, if you destroy all his cores, he drops fragments that you can use.

I only destroyed 2 cores, had enough time to farm dragonite ores. Fire resistance is key (Barroth set). Dont forget to roll and dodge if you're on fire.

I have had friends "fail"the mission, they didn't expected to much dmg from the bursting magmacores and they went too to too with mister spiky unprepared on how much dmg he could deal ;)

But as you said 4 magmacores destroyed should give you a nice bonus reward. The one on the head is hard to do though if you are not fast enough but gives the highest possibility of a gem. At least it was that way on the ps4 version.

Wrong armor set, I think you are talking about Anjanath set.

HUSH NOW CHILE (finished that quest on Barroth. Disregard that part, my mistake). Still, dont forget the Dodge Roll if you iz aflame. Common rookie mistake.
