High CPU/GPU Usage in Task Manager - Found the Issue
Hello all! So when running this game, I noticed my CPU/GPU usage under task manger was extremely high. 80-90 even 100% at times. I am using a 144Hz monitor. I ended up changing the Frame Rate Limit to 60 and next thing you know, my CPU/GPU usage went down to 50-60 percent.
I don't believe this is supposed to happen? I guess when the game tries to run at 120-144 FPS it pushes the hardware hard? Hopefully there are some patches that fix this issue.

Hardware:
i7 8700K @ 4.7Ghz - 1.2V
16 GB DDR4 RAM - 3200
Geoforce GTX 1080Ti

Update 1: I tested this with 60/85/100/120/144 Hz settings on my monitor. CPU/GPU usage lower to a more stable usage % when it is on 60/85 (50-60% usage). Once you start to hit 100+ your CPU usage in task manager start to hit the high 80/90s. I also noticed turning V-Sync off (which helps give more FPS) also increases the usage percentage.

My friend has a GTX 1080 and a 144hz monitor and experiances the same issue. Just letting you know you're not the only one experiancing this.

Thanks. Was just testing settings since a lot of people were talking about this high CPU usage issue.

well durrrr , the more u push the game the moe cpu u use, basic knowledge . limiting the game to 60 fps will of course use less cpu / gpu , same as any game the more u push the game the higher cpu / gpu

the lower spec the machine the more you stres the machine as u ramp up fps / graphics ,

waste of cpu / gpu if its only working at 50% of its capacity .this game is very cpu heavy .

if u are worried about your cpu running at 80-100% of its capcity and overheating get better cooling ,

Thanks for the info, Maybe my i5 7400 would still go up to 95 of cpu usage so a change of processor is a must? so does reformating also help to kill unwanted process?

it will do i f u have a lot of junk in background running , i would reccomend a program called ccleaner it will clean your system of unwanted junk etc

No need to be rude. Take a look at GTA V/The Witcher 3/Rise of the Tombraider/Assassin's Creed Origins. Running them at 144hz doesn't push the CPU to 100% 24/7. For a 17 GB game, pretty sure it needs to be patched up. Just helping people out there with some quick help/tips on what I tested with.

That's exactly how it's supposed to work.

If you lock the FPS to something lower than your PC can actually handle, of course it's not going to use as much of your hardware, why would it?

lol. of course limiting your frame rate will lower cpu usage. Are you trying to show people that you were born yesterday?

Wow, reducing the number of frames your hardware has to render stresses it less? No way! Whodathunk? Also:

Because those games are not this game, which is running on a completely different engine using the CPU for all sorts of things the other games are not in order to make sure there's no loading during gameplay. Google is your friend.

Could you tell the rest of the class what the size of the game has to do with CPU or GPU usage? Or do you think your CPU and GPU are loading 17 GB of data all at once?

This is something everyone knows. Everyone. It's like saying 'to play the game, install it.' Gee. Thanks.

I don't see the need for negativity, the man was just trying to do what he thought was helpful. No shame in that my guy.

What worked for me was downgrading the NVIDIA driver. now the game is smooth AF.
Xilo The Odd Aug 11, 2018 @ 11:30am
so wait, your saying that rendering more frames per second is more work for your hardware?

SHOCKER! lol.

as much as i like being in the triple digits for FPS on gaming, i find if trying to run that high causes more issues lock it at 60 and be happy its stable. my dips dont go past 50.

Playing a game shouldn`t be more taxing on a cpu than say? The toughest benchmarking tool you could ever find. They`ve Fd up somewhere. I`m doing alright and nowhere near 100% usage but it for damn sure is hungrier that what is on the screen. Hope for a massive patch next week.

Is obvious...... Running the game at 144 FPS make your CPU/GPU work twice as hard. With your PC spec you should be playing this game at 144 FPS without problems just remove the "FOG-THING"
