Random palicoes during expeditions: are they other player's palicoes?
I just encountered a random palico in full plate armor... Named, uh.. Dip crap. Steam censors the actual name.

In older games, they were wild ones that would attack you. They usually go down in like 1 or 2 swings.

Oh no, no no, i mean the cats! You encounter wild cats in the wild (similar to the one following you around) and your own cat can recruit wild cats to join your little party.

I just want to know if they are other players' cats or if they're developer made, as you wouldnt expect the devs (or translators) to name a companion "dip sh!t".

Oh really? I never really play with other players, but i did recieve a random guild card once. I guess i'll take a look at it and see if that's the palico in question! Thanks!

Until i know for sure i can't mark the thread as answered, though.

EDIT: That is indeed the Palico i met in-game. So after you recieve a guild card from another player it seems you may encounter that player's Palico in the wild!

When you unlock palico safaries, those palicoes can also be among the expedition

It mentions this in the hints or tooltips in the in-game menu. You will sometimes get the Palicos of players you've received Guild Cards from. I had one joint me recently in a full Kadachi set, it was very cute. No idea if it made a difference, I was on an expedition. >_<

the cats you find in the wild are part of diffrent tribes, once you begin to befriend them in the coral highlands you can get an extra team-mate

The base cats that can join you in a mission have a given gadget depending on the map. Having a player's palico join you means that you have acces to cats who could potentially have different gadgets

I can confirm this, I've encountered my fiancée's palico while doing a story quest in Rotten Vale.
Get close and your own palico should have a little chat with it, and recruit it to help you!
Yes, They are the palicos from your friends guild cards.

There are small wild tribes of Palicos, and when you get close your Cat befriends them and is lerning new .... skills? stuff like that it can place a shock trap.

Plus my Cat can "tame" smaller predators, its freaking cool to see my Cat riding a Jagras into battle lol.

not really once you be-friend them their will be 2-3 groups of them on the map so you can pick your fancy on if you need a buff cat or a cat will force taunt enemies for you
