Benefits of full armor sets?

I'm still pretty early in the game I think, but it seems like that if you choose armor pieces from different sets with the same skills, you can get really usefull high level skill..
So is there any benefit to choosing a full set of pieces other than it looking better?

Some full set armor provide specific skills, both early and late game.
The skill stuff wont be that useful in early game. So dont worry about having full set.

I have just been wearing whatever I think looks best. Currently wearing the bone armor, though I have only just killed the kulu thing.

I will worry about the set bonuses later and just wear what I like for now.
