Fatal error: ERR12: Graphics device crashed
getting a crash around 15 minuets into any expedition or quest. cant progress. anyone know of this error and know how to fix it?

got a gtx 970m latest drivers and all,

it might be helpful to know that when i disable my audio drivers the crashign is A LOT less consistent and i can play for about an hour instead of 15

Edit: locking fps to 30 and putting vsync on allowed me to play for almost 7 hours straight yesterday, got a crash at the end however and had to call it a night there, seems as if switching between 60 fps w/ vsync off and 30fps w/vsync on allows for extended game time w/o err 12

Try this:
Go to your monster hunter world local files. Open up the file called config. Where it said CPU RENDER THREAD, if it says OFF delete that word OFF and replace it with the word ON, save the file and try playing again. If it says ON obviously this won't help you.

Please let me know if this fixes it for you, it did for my friend. Thanks and good luck!

I have been playing the game up until yesterday with close to no issues, upon playing for around 20 minutes I got a crash. I decided to just relaunch the game and after another 20 or 30 minutes the game sent be to a bluescreeen of death, upon restart my computer refused to launch passed bios and I ended up having to wipe all my hard drives be cause they got locked up, then reinstall windows.

I just see what you recommend and I have it ON, I only have OFF this:
[DISPLAY]
HdrOutput=OFF
HdrOutputWhiteLevel=300.000000

Play on ultra low settings reduce the resolution, update your bios use recommeded gpu drivers make sure your firewall has the game folder in exceptions this might give you some more time but it will still crash just not as much, no real fix is out have to pray it will get fixed

I will pray for Nvidia make real fix and soon. Probably could be that the game isn't supported at all with the actual version of our Geforce GTX. But is what you told, we have to pray for real fix and soon.

GTX 970m is a laptop variant —> make sure temps on your GPU are under 80C ish while playing. Same with your CPU. Could explain why it’s only in quests that you crash since the camps don’t make the hardware work as hard as when in a quest.

Since this game is making CPUs/GPUs work extra hard and even making desktops overheat, laptops are going to experience much worse heating issues.

Always turn on Vsync 60 FPS or else it will reduce the GPU's life span.
I don't think anyone want that.
If you really hate Vsync, try to limit the voltage of GPU to 85 percent
