So using keyboard/mouse Charge blade

So anyone that can explain how the heck i charge the shield? i know you gotta store the energy in to vials or something first. but how do i charge up the shield?

Holding down ctrl+mouse right button seems to store the energy in to your vials.

I used Charge Blade for years and even I don't know.

Keep right clicking to build charge. Easiest if it's safe is hold right click for like a second or two. You'll see the vials at the top left turn white to yellow to red to burning red. Then hold control and hit right click. If you're safe to combo, hit right click again to immediately go into axe mode and discharge one vial.

after you used the store vial move, proceed to press LMB + RMB to perform a shield jab attack, then do LMB + RMB and u will do a transition to axe mode while doing a big axe swing attack (Amplified Elemental Discharge), before the swing actually happens, spam CTRL button to cancel it, if successfully cancelled while having phials available will actually charge ur shield.

As long as you can do the shield jab attack, you can do LMB + RMB again to trigger the AED move, general rule of thumb is, if u can cancel ur AED with CTRL, your shield will be charged.

Np, CB main here and took me a while to figure out the controls on kb+m, just make sure u have phials stored when u try to charge.

Yeah your explanation was easy to understand and execute. my first time playing any of the MHW games and been looking forward to this for so long. but couldent for the life of me figure out how it worked haha!

Yeah i remember when i first picked up charge blade, i was swinging the axe around like a fking idiot without knowing it could be charged to begin with lol. Oh you can also charge ur sword too after you charged your shield.

While the shield is charged and you are in sword mode, do the store phial move again and during the store phial move animation, hold LMB and then release it at the right timing will charge your sword, charging your sword doesnt consume phials, it only requires your shield to be charged. very good for when u need the mobility.

Is there a visual que that i can see to know if i actually managed to succeed with charging my blade? like how the shield glows red? cant tell if im failing or succeeding when trying it

There are five Phial icons in the upper left hand corner of the display. Keep striking your opponent with sword slashes until the grey empty Phial icons turn Yellow. You can now press CTRL+RMB to fill three (3) Phials turning them solid White.

If you keep slashing until the Phial icons are Red then it will fill all five (5) Phials when you press the CTRL+RMB command.

If you keep slashing your opponent the Phial icons will eventually glow solid Red and your sword will have zero cutting power. You will be forced to press CTRL+RMB to fill the Phials.

Once one or more of your Phials are filled (solid White) you can CTRL+LMB to pefform a Morph Slash and then go to town!

CTRL once more to return to Sword mode and repeat the process.

It is basicly the same as on controller, you hit the block/morph keybind to cancel a amped discharge by attack + special attack keybinds together.

Yes there is a visual indicator, your sword will be engulved in a glow to show it is charged if you done it successfully. But the icon next to your shield and vials is a better indicator as it will start to blink when it is going to run out and you know when to reapply.
