Except the part when you realize Steam doesn't show you minutes so it's actually 23 hours and 32 minutes from now. You put EDT as 12AM so that threw me off.

Because, why not? Timezones are arbitary anyway, look at a timezone map and you will find some very ridicoulous ones :D, even govs that just wanna be 30 mins ahead of their rivals create their own timezone for just their country, LUL

You don't need proof though... just look at the store page.

Because seeing GMT-8 gives me a reference I can then convert to my local time and doesn't require me to go to Google to find out what time your random acronyms actually are.

totally agree, thats why you should always know the difference between the universal time (UTC) and your timezone, almost all important things are given in UTC.
Sadly you cant expect some to even understand conversion of timezones, some wont even think back to the time where math was a subject that you usually skipped.
