Dauntless is from semi-new developers that havent had much (if any?) experience in the past of MH-style games, Dauntless in itself is a very decent game, but will need lots of time to cook.
Dauntless is free, so dont believe comments about it, try it out for youself. a couple of hours and you should know aproximatly what you are getting youself into. If you are unsure about MH style games, try out Dauntless. Liking it? Might be worth getting MHW if you have the 60€ to spend.
There are 5 island chains each is a different tier. Everything not on the last tier is fluff.
The weapons are not balanced: axe and sword are miles better than everything else. There will be a ranged weapon soon.
The exotic weapons (spear and sword) and armor (2 helms) are so bad. I built the pike to max level and they nerfed it.
On the island there is a boss and a bunch of npc rams (cant interact with or kill).
The weapons have little variety in how you want to use them (very limited combos).
The armor and weapon system is extremely simple. You get cores from doing weekly missions. That's your progress. You can get subtier cores from daily missions (and very very rarely- maybe 1 in 20 will have a weekly core). The game was initially setup so you straight up bought cores to speed advancement but they took that out last minute (because it went so well for EA right?).
Dauntless is free and you can have some fun time playing it for about a month. Then you hit the cell wall (not the plant structure) where you need the right implants for weapons and armor. Each week you gamble vs rng to see if you get the one you need.
Implants only stack up to +6 and anything over is wasted. About 99% of the time having +4 or +5 is useless. Sometimes you need one +3 and a specific armor pieces to get you +6 but occasionally you can get away with 2x +2 and lose nothing.
As an example : cunning 6 is 10% chance to deal double damage on hit. Cunning 5 is only 5% which is very low for using 2x +3 slots.
MHW on otherhand is amazing but price gate.
HUNTER BLADE
he finished the tutorial mission, crafted his first weapon and went to his first real mission
but he disconnected on the ship and had to go back to the town when relogging
then he was stuck there
the npc girl is telling him to make his first weapon (which he already have crafted and equipped) and refused to give him the first mission until it's done
i lol'd at that glitch
his face when uninstalling the game was unforgettable :D
