Helping stunned/paralyzed/... players
First of all, I would like to apologize for the bad English.

I have been playing MHW and iceborne for quite a while and I feel quite confident with several weapons, particularly with bow. As such, I found rencently several occasions in which the player gets paralized, stunned, knocked down,... and, as a ranger, I would like to help them.

As an example, when Rajang does this attack that "pins down" players, in some ocassion I shoot at them and they get "unpinned". On the other hand, sometimes they are not. I think this is due to the "flinch free" decoration that prevents "unflinching" them. If so, in my opinion, this is a poor design of the game.

In any case, is there a way, as a bow user, to help any kind of situation (stun/knock down/sleep....) to help players even with "flinch free" decoration?

Thanks in advance.

Flinch Free does not effect players that are under the effects that cause loss of control of their character. You probably just happened to be shooting at them when they freed themselves, which they can do by shooting pods at the monster that is pinning them. You can also use pods that stun the monster to help them get back up faster and safely.

Using flashbug slinger shot on monster (while it's doing pin animation) is much more effective. :winter2019cooldog:

Yeah, what Suzaku said. Flinch Free doesn't have any effect on you helping them out.

Can you even help players who are paralyzed or lying down sleeping btw? I know you can hit them to help with stuns or early sleep state (the one before they pass out), but I've never been able to knock players out of those.

If your weapon has an attack that launches other players into the air, you can scoop your allies off the ground and out of the sleep/paralyzed state. I don't think bows have an option for that, unless a dragonpiercer has enough oomph to work?

Thanks, then there must be a bug. I am asking this because a lot of players died due to not being freed. Rajang literally pinned down them and then killed them with the next move. Usually I see when I "unpin" them but not in some ocassions. Also they remain in the characteristic "sit down" animation even after shooting at their body.....

I fear that what you say is true... That is my experience. I will try Dragonpiercer. Thanks :)
Are you talking about the rajang pin pick up and throws the players?
if so its part of the attack can not help.i tried with tha lance charge.2 things need happen flash bomb.or hard hitting attack to stun him to stop the smash after the throw.

same thing with one of the raths.

the throw/grab/eat doesn't work the same as stun or para. At that point i'd say it's better to just flash the monster out of agro and let downed boy recover

this is true for paralyze but any little hit will wake up a sleeping player not 100% but even just shooting a pod should work

I can reliably punt players out of Sleep / Paralysis / Roars / Tremors with a Hammer, Greatsword or Switchaxe, but I've had absolutely no success attempting to punt players that are "pinned" or lying on their back from a strong knockback attack such as a Rajang clutch counter grab, or a Deviljho pin etc. I usually rely on flash pods for that.

I don't know if I've been doing it incorrectly or otherwise simply missing teammates who are pinned or knocked down though. Maybe the hitbox is less generous or something, or sure maybe Flinch Free effects it (highly doubtful, it doesn't stop you whacking them out of a stun) or whatever.

I have heard some players use snowballs while aiming them with an empty slinger to knock players into a trip and out of various status effects, but that seems really niche and ultimately kinda overkill in most situations, albeit clever use of event tools. I haven't tried it myself, though. You can also pelt monsters with snowballs while wearing the Ghillie mantle and it doesn't break stealth (although the monster will get pised off and eventually attack in your general area, usually hitting you out of it anyway but it's fun while it lasts)

Just carry some small bombs around.

This is what I do when people got paralysis by Kirin. Give them a small bomb when I ran pass. It work great.

Always keep Flash Pods with you for this situation. Also your English is just fine, keep it up!

Also, while a normal bow shot can wake a sleeping player, it won't help for stun; it doesn't actually flinch someone. You can use the stupid bow melee stab attack (the one where you jump forward and slash with an arrow in your hand) to knock a stunned player.

first thing i tried to do was give em the boot, but i guess that doesnt exist anymore... was my go to for the PS2 monster hunter and freedom unite, which has been the only other games that i have played in the series.
