My cat is dumb?
Sooo.. did the AI of the Palicos get worse after the big Update (Iceborne) because my cat seems to be really stupid.

Standing there while I'm paralysed. Granted, I finished the quest and maybe that is why my Palico doesn't do a damn thing, but... I noticed it likes to stand near me when I'm KO too.

So, i it just my cat?
Bad luck? Or did anybody else too noticed a decline in intelligence of the Palicos? (They're still cute tho)

However, the AI can be a bit random regardless. For me personally I find it's about the same if not a little better after Iceborne.

The next time you get paralysed, signal your palico. Bind it to your radial wheel thing. You can find it in the same section where the SOS Flare is. If they aren't using their tool or attacking, they'll come to you and hopefully help you out of whatever state your in. Mine has done this a few times with stun, paralysis and sleep.

Sometimes they'll knock you out of paralysis, sometimes they won't. Pretty sure it's randomized so you don't rely on your Palico to knock you out of every stun, sleep and paralysis.

My Palico actually feels like it ismore helpful and willing to do it's job since IB.

Same with me too. Capcom gave them "Realistic Cat A.I.".

he hate you.

It's kinda random whether they gonna help you or not. It's more like a clutch tbh.

So just don't get cc in the first place is your best bet. Stack thunder resistance to 20 if you are worry about getting paralyze or stun resistance if you're getting hit a lot, or maybe just let them use coral ochestra.

Gotta love when the cat stands on top of you, eliminating all possible chances of the monster targeting the cat instead...

I love when the cat comes with the vigorwasp... and then puts it away when I get close, and breaks it open early other times lol.

At least it's one cart I don't have to worry about in GL.

There's a way to call your palico for help, put "signal" on your wheel menu, it doesnt work 100% of the time but when you ping signal palico usually runs to you and if you are stunned or on sleep, there's a high chance itll wake you up.

I love when your stunned or paralyzed and the cat runs up to you, than starts drinking it's health canteen....

Like hey I'm here so if the monster aggro's either me or you, your getting hit by it since you can't move. But no worries meowster I am drinking my health smoothie so I'll survive this blow unlike you...

God I hate when they do that

My palico always knocks me out of sticky situations. Care for your cat and it cares for you. Take a hot bath with it from time to time, go for that fish platter before the hunt, they love it. And don't forget to feed it sausages after every quest as a reward. :D

Thanks for all the answers, I am just glad that it's not only my cat that sometimes acts a bit stupid (is an a-hole) lol! :steamhappy:

More sausage = more love.

Mine is really smart. When my character's stunned he just runs towards me and stands still so that the monster will cart me whether he targets me or him.

...Seriously though, I've been playing since MH4:U and the Palico AI is far worse than it was in that game. The tools are incredibly powerful, but they are practically useless beyond tool usage. In fact, they are most dangerous when not using tools and more often than not will endanger your life as a result. If they ever even knock me out of a stun they do it at the very end so that it actually takes even longer before I can move again.

Definitely feels like they get caught up trying to decide between gadgets to use, yes. Coral Orchestra Palicos used to keep you buffed up relentlessly, now it seems they prance around waiting for the right moment to use their Sonicgong, doing nothing else until they've used it. Sad times.
