How do you ground flying monsters?

While their use is limited, you can use flashbombs to drop them and stun them for a bit allowing you to get a bit of damage in, otherwise, another easy method would be to use a ranged weapon.

Step 1: Equip Insect Glaive
Step 2: Mount the monster
Step 3: Profit

Find a ledge and use it to do jumping attacks, if not use grapple points and do it that way, if not use glider mantle and an updraft, if not use clutch claw and just keep smacking it with clutch attacks, if not use a ranged weapon to hunt them instead of a melle weapon.

If a flash bomb doesn't work then another option is to mount the monster or - if the monster is not enraged - clutch claw and shoot all the ammo into its face. No real other options. That's why Insect Glaive is a good choice against flying monsters - you can easily attack it either way and mount just as easily.

On that note.. use traps to extend the time it spends grounded.

looking how flash pod dont work that way, experimented that via accident, dont think is going to work, but need to try it to be sure

Just keep hitting the monster and it will eventually come down. Use the terrain to get aerial if you have to and use your slinger when you can't. Use the claw. Flinch shot when desperate. Try to attack the head and wings. Flash for short drops but don't expect them to stay down for too long. Don't forget wall runs. Finish mounts for a good knockdown. Just keep attacking however you can.
