How to access Iceborne DLC?
I haven't played in a while but I did complete the main game story. How do I access the Iceborne area?

If you've finished the main campaign of the base game, you should be HR 16 (if I am not mistaken).
There will be a quest marker in Astera waiting for you.

I just checked, I finished the game but my HR is 11. Does that mean I need to get to 16? How do I get to 16 if I finished the story?

You haven't finished the story if you're not HR16.

pink rathian i would guess then you are only half done with the base game.

"Half done" more like 2% done from a content perspective.

Ugh. I am so confused. I could swear I finished the main story and it said I could continue doing all the side stuff. Now it says I am on a quest to find unknown monster tracks ???? Rathian. I selected that quest and I killed the two monsters but it doesn't say I completed it. Was I supposed to not kill them? Was that just find their tracks? I assume this is a main quest because it has the red logo but how do I know what the main quests are.

I assume this is a main quest because it has the red logo but how do I know what the main quests are.
Your objective right now is to complete the research on ??? Rathian, it's part of the story, unfortunately.

Yea but under assigned quests there are no new ones. They are all greyed out. Do I need to do the investigation first before I can get new assigned quests? Man so I was a huge idiot for buying the iceborne DLC then. Idk why they didn't make it clear you should only buy if you are level 16/.

It was said from the start it's a post campaign expansion.

Their only mistake was apparently thinking that people will properly recognize when they are done with the campaign.
