Joining friend's assigned quest BUG

My friend and I have both completed the iceborne story. However, i can join my other friend's assigned quest and my friend cannot. The quest says he has not progressed far enough into the story yet he is MR 50+ already.Has anyone else experienced this bug before? Is there a fix for it? We prefer playing missions as group and would hate to have to leave the other friend out.

Does this friend use any mods, or have they installed the mod loader for iceborne?

Certain versions of that mod loader have a bug that can wreck your save files (unless you further cheat to replay quests). The mod loader would cause you to skip certain cutscenes, and it's the act of triggering the cutscenes that actually flags certain things as "complete".

Is the assigned quest the Yian Garuga quest called, "Return of the Crazy One"? That quest has special unlock requirements that you might not have completed even at MR50.

i think you need to be lvl 3 in the GL on forest?
