Monster Hunter: World

highest dps weapon?
im curious what the best weapon choice would be if youre brand new to the game. it should be easy to calculate considering youre just comparing no deco defender armor/weapons to each other. (saying bow is the best is wrong because you need total end game gear/decos to be relevant)

World was a mistake.
The zinogre heavy bow gun is the best starting weapon thats what you taught me.
Mathematically speaking, it's the dual blades. Why no one has said this boggles my mind. They're super easy to use, too.

Yes.
When safi drops, her spread HBG. With load of 140 spread ammo, u deal >33k dmg ...
You can’t really state that any weapon class has the highest DPS universally, because different weapons produce different DPS depending on the fight in question. It’s how something like SNS used to place kind of middle-ish in speed runs for most fights, but in Nergrigante speed runs it placed towards the top. It’s a very fast monster so a faster weapon delivered more average DPS. In general the ranged options like HBG win in terms of averages across all fights. But really, don’t pick a weapon based on speed run averages. It’ll most likely to a boring experience. Try as many as you can. And pick what feels best. I’ve gone back to SNS (not the “top speed run weapon”) as my main in Iceborne simply because it’s the most fun to use consistently.. for me. Have no problem soloing the 15 minute Elder investigations, every time, and that’s great to me. Most of the weapons are comparable enough in terms of damage per minute that it really does come down to what feels most natural to the player
you guys really dont understand the question even though i clarified it twice lmao... you just ignore what i asked gj
Since we are talking about the start of the game and not the end, HBG/LBG can't be recommended (ammo stats are all important and absolute trash starting out, especially without weapon mods). After that, when decorations are removed from the equation, 90% of your DPS is dependent on your skill, so whatever weapon you are best at is the right answer.

So yeah, the answer is 'there is no answer'
Don't worry about dps. Any weapon you use can have a great dps depending on your build and skill. What matters is which weapons suit your playstyle. Each weapon has its own feel and is played differently. Some weapons however are too complicated and would take a lot of time to fully understand on your own. I recommend checking out Arekkz's weapon tutorials on YouTube when you have a hard time understanding how a weapon works.

And some people never learn right
If we're going from the very start of the game, it's the great sword. Hits hard, doesn't rely on elements. Doesn't particularly rely on gear except for more damage. Doesn't have ammo scaling like bowguns. Gets its first major upgrade at Great Jagras. Tends to require skill, which if you're a vet, you have.

the only problem is that its so slow and i think youd have to rely on ledge hopping exploits for it to be good

okay maybe i should have said: if youre an experienced player and start a new game, which would be the highest dps weapon to pick to clear the story asap, including iceborne

TCS is meta. Landing TCS is all about skill. TCS is highest DPS in the game if landed reliably.
