Is there any Master Rank (Iceborne) Long Sword better then the Divine Slasher?

I only just recently purchased Iceborne and use the Divine Slasher quite a bit and am still trying to figure out what decorations i need for it but was just wondering, is it worth me doing that or is there a better long sword out there i should go for?

Thanks all for the replies, did seem like the Divine Slasher wasn't really that good against master rank monster, but maybe that's just the decorations i had on, i'm still learning the ropes of decorations

I mean, you can also upgrade your slasher with more arena coins. (Hero King Coin not available until after you finish the story though)

I'll pass and suck with my Safi LS and armor setup. Paired with my gems, and augments, nothing could every make me switch out of that LS setup.


85%+ affinity, tenderizer, lvl 3 partbreaker, 500~ blast. Practically no health drain. Yeah, I'm living the dream.

mathematically wise aka for speedrun or if you're an extremely good LS player : Acidic Glavenus LS,Magdoras Volcanic,Radiant Flow

these LS has high Raw and (small) Purple sharpness but they are ideal for speedrun not your everyday farming since you need to be precise with your hit to it would stay purple

white and purple sharpness damage multiplier isn't that big so try not to care much about it unless you're speedrunner (white = x1.32 purple = x1.39 damage multiplier)

Practical wise : Wyvern Luna,Hellish Slasher,Ruiner Nerigigante LS

but honestly i would stick with hellish slasher (upgrade version of divine slasher)

it has big white sharpness that you don't need handicraft and you have 1 Level 4 gem slot

Wyvern Blade Luna is good but you don't want to use them against monster with high poison resistant (like Rathian) and it only comes with level 1 gem slot

i usually use Ruiner Nerigigante LS when i fight against elemental elder dragon that need elder seal like black veil vaal,Kushala

Ruiner LS also has level 1 gem slot so i mostly stick with Hellish Slasher for non-elemental boost and Level 4 gem slot that you can put anything into it

if you're going for elemental then use Velkhana LS for Ice,Zinogre LS for Thunder,Silver Rathalos LS for fire,Namielle for Water

I still use Hellish Slasher over the other LS's. It looks beautiful, the blade and the sheath. And once Odogaron layered armor comes in...AH ! My life is complete.

The thing about with Hellish Slasher is it's elementless, so non-elemental boost will affect it. Plus it has naturally HUGE chunk of white sharpness, you don't need handicraft for your build, so Masters Touch set bonus works really well. So you can just focus your build around affinity and attack without worrying about handicraft, leaving you plenty of decoration options open, including the charm.

That being said once Safi comes....it's gonna be Blast LS all day, too strong to ignore.

Shara Ishvalda LS is easy to get and works quite well until Gold Rathian. Generally just run Viper Tobi LS before that.

Well, it IS really good, if we're talking about the Hellish Slasher, but only until you reach Master rank 100, since at that point you'll be able to augment the Gold Rathian LS, which then outperforms the Slasher.
Slasher can be augmented earlier.
I was running Slasher for quite some time myself since wielding a slightly weaker weapon with a health augment is always the smart choice over a stronger one that does not have an augment. Also, it just looks gorgeous, doesn't it?

In base world, Divine Slasher was merely a Sub-optimal Raw LS option compared to the Taroth Sword 'Fire' and the Reaver 'Calamity', Taroth being more generous with sharpness and fitting better in comfy builds and Reaver being the best Longsword in terms of raw damage against most Monsters that weren't resistant to Dragon element.
In Iceborne, Hellish Slasher actually takes the spot of Taroth sword UNTIL you reach HR 100. And Weapons that fit in comfy builds (meaning you're having more space for personalization and skills that you actually need) are very recommended for hunters who don't have that much experience with decorations and skills whatsoever.

It requires Handicraft at lv 4 or 5 or so to be effective, the Slasher and Luna do not, which make them more comfortably fitting in builds.

Which is not that big of a deal in Iceborne anymore since Non-Elemental boost got nerfed hard by Capcom, it now gives only 5% damage bonus instead of 10% in base World.
Hellish Slasher with Non-Elemental boost does just barely reach the base raw damage number of Wyvern Blade Luna and that Poison damage is not a joke with Master Rank monsters and their masses of HP since Poison deals %maxHP damage.

Ok. I now have Wyvern Blade "Blossom"+ but how do i get to fight the gold Ratian for the materials for the luna? I was told you need to get the Wildspire Waste to level 6 but i'm not seeing any levels anywhere.. Is it a certain master rank i need to be able to do that? I've just defeated Velkhana and i am MR18 and now using Icebrink until i figure it out.. thanks again for the replies

Beat the story first and you'll unlock the Guiding Lands, which is a big map with several regions representing areas in the game. Monsters you hunt in the GL increase or decrease region EXP, and at certain thresholds this effects the level that region is at. When people say Goldian is in level 6 Wildspire, they mean she starts spawning in the Guiding Lands desert region when it is at lvl6 (she also spawns in the Volcanic region after you fight Rajang).

There's actually an event quest out right now for Goldian, but I'm fairly certain you need to be MR70 to accept it. Just ditch the Rathian LS for now until you can upgrade it properly.

You're still in early game right now. Gold rathian won't appear until you've reached Guiding Lands and your Wildspire needs to be level 6 correct. Your MR should be at least 70 until she may show up. You check the map until you see the "???" and if you're lucky then you will spot her.
