They're white in normal and HR, but in a MR hunt I saw a fluffy black one.
Critter capture is the ultimate endgame ;D
I hate how rare some of the endemic life is, next is that stinking oversized jellyfish, and then them stinking digging monsters... Viper Karachi almost hit me when I was trying to catch the big fish in that area... I almost skipped my remote across the room.
I'm wailing on the button and here comes this dude howling, I caught the thing, got the achievement and then got sent flying... smh.
Already got the blue bird from Ancient Forest, it spawns right next to the camp and it's a really easy capture there. This one spawn I saw in coral is just weird since I see no means to reach the rock it's on, it's completely off the map and just too far away to reach with the net. There's nothing to jump off, nothing. Just plain placed out of reach.
While the white one is downy crake
The dark ones are Bristly Crakes. The easiest method I've found is to spawn into camp 1 in Elder's Reach, jumping down into the corridor between area 5 and 7, and then going to area 5 to check on the Gastodon up the small cliff while wearing Ghillie Mantle. If it's not there (it'll ride on a Gastodon if it is), swap map, and redo everything. If you do this on an expedition, you can move between maps without losing the Zoomaster buff.
On the plus side, it's not that rare. But it still sucks that you kinda just aim your net and hope for the best trying to catch one.
I've been at this for hours and still 'almost' no results. I got the birds once. Decided to flash and to hopefully catch multiple, but then the game decided to screw me over and had the shortcut wheel not work properly to switch tools and catch them.
Anyway, if you're seeing them regularly it just means you're extremely lucky. There's no surefire way to get them, not even a high chance method.
