Have you tried that? If you play with a headset i recommend selecting the output device on headset (duh....) it's what i have and it sounds pretty good.
Alsoyou can try changing the dinamic range to narrow. Take in mind that what that option does is differenciate a LOT between quiet and loud sounds. Personally, i have it on mid range.
forgot to add above, i even been playing Dragons Dogma(an older capcom game) recently, and it sounds great. this is really strange no one else has this prob.
are there hidden settings in steam per game? anyone?
How much has it been since youdon't update your soundcard drivers? it may be related and always worth trying.
the volume is really low too.
but again, Everything else on this pc sounds great and has for 5+ years.
as for now, ive downloaded an audio enhancing app trial version. i amplified the volume and removed some orf the high frequencies to take away some "tinniness".
anyone know a good app for this that is free?
it litterally sounds like im playing on NES on a TV from the 70s, but in reality im using a high power gaming pc from 2014 and a set of Klipsch ear buds(the best ive ever used). btw ive tried my usb surround sound 7.1 gaming headset too. on all output settings. still sounds trash.
My friend in Christ, this post is over five years old
