Why Sticky Meta is op?
What is the reason? Just curious, I am not a main gunner.

Requires no skill or active braincells to use to its fullest potential. Fixed damage that deals more damage than non-fixed damage weapons that also need to tenderize to deal damage. Just point and click anywhere on the screen and the monster will be stunlocked for a solid minute, after which it has already ceased to be. People using this cannot function with anything else, they are unable to play the game without being spoonfed everything.

safe, easy to build for and high flat damage unaffected by HZV's.

kinda boring though.

True damage. Minimal aim requirement (Headshots are better, but honestly, you don't really care, since it's just KO, not damage).
J.M. Feb 10, 2020 @ 12:13pm
No skill requirement. Easy to farm a build. Constant damage against all monsters regardless of weak points. KO damage.
Grottowalker Feb 10, 2020 @ 12:15pm
Even before iceborne it was good but it was not often talked about...

Fixed damage, if you have good aim you get way more KO then hammer, no critical range so you can be point blank or maximum distance and still deal the same damage. does not care about hard parts.

Most lbg come w with some status... so you are not just the guy that gets 3+ KO per hunt. easily getting 1 para and one sleep too. Plus wall bangs.

its KOs, dont need to weaken monster parts, hit zone doesnt affect its damage it deals only if it stacks KO. materials for crafting shot is easy to acquire, can start using it as early as Brachy effectively.

ever since the Cluster shot meta went by the wayside due to not being able to carry much shot anymore Sticky kinda took over.

if your interested in trying it, Garuga LBG or Zorah HBG are the top picks.

Sticky will significantly decrease your damage compared to spread meta but, if used correctly, will dramatically increase your team's dps as a whole because a good "hame" main will keep the monster down for literally the entire fight.

As a main drawback you have to craft ammo every 9 shots for a lot of guns and after 18 more you'll have to craft mats. Once you've exhausted those then at best you'll have done around 15k damage so for a lot of monsters, even in groups, you'll be fart-castering out to get more mats. In comparison spread 3 can go multiple hunts on a single mat stack.

The second big drawback is the reload. For most guns this is going to be the full 3 second kneeling reload animation. That's plenty of time to cart if you're not paying attention and it's the main cause of the dps drop compared to spread.

Third problem is it requires arty 5 which requires easy to get armor but not so easy to get decos.

As for the people who say it's "gg Ez nO SkiLL" they also say that about all HBG builds because most have never used any of them and think they're all loyal/gluttons. Spread 3 meta is absolutely brain dead, yes. Sticky 3 most certainly isn't unless you use it like a long range GL in which case it loses everything that makes it op.

Any vet would realize that stickies can not outperform other weapons at their true potential.
Restocking sticky ammo at camp is a massive DPS loss as well.

Alright that last sentence just shows how butthurt you are.
What subjective nonsense.

So in a nutshell Sticky meta is optimal in MP with a teammate who knows how to stun chain and with a lot of replacement mats

Might try it sometime in the future

a fully upgraded rajang HBG with attack augments is the meta for sticky gunning from my experience

Bringing materials and crafting sticky 2 one at a time only and going for mostly headshots I can make them last for the whole fight (+ bringing wide range 3 so I'm not shooting all the time). I just tried it while fighting gold rathian with others. Not sure about the tempered ones I'm not there yet but I try to make the best of my resources.

what he said!

I play stick HBG without a shield, and it feels great!
I dunno why everyone crys about HBG, nerf slicing to usless, nerf this nerf that.
Zinogre HBG is also not that great DPS in a mulitplayer hunt and spread 3 HBG is boring af.

"a fully upgraded rajang HBG with attack augments is the meta for sticky gunning from my experience"

auto reload is also not that great as the magda gemitus vulcan deals more DMG but if you prefer a shield it's much more easy.
