The Switch Axe Is at its absolute best in Iceborne
There's every viable way to play it now.

Yes, zero sum spam can be stupid, but unless the monster has a part that rarely ever emits an attack, this won't work unless your team trips better than you.

my favorite is how viable the power axe mode is. With the ability to setup trips faster and ignore your phial charging which can be difficult without knockdowns, you play a more evasive style that can dish out damage while having superior manuverability.

The backwards swing has no i-frames? Exactly! it isn't for dodging. It's for positioning. Preemtively using it when finishing an axe combo places you in perfect position to dodge most attacks. Having Evade 2 and a bit of evade extention or more makes it much easier to use, and getting good at it is fun.

No this post wasn't made to complain about the other post on switch axes, I'm genuinely wanting to express how much I'm enjoying the weapon with its new improvements harking back to its original design of having 2 key modes to play in.

I agree. It feels more rewarding than a few of the other weapons once you understand the finer nuances and put them to practice.

The Power Axe Mode is the best thing; for years I've said that for SA to really get a big boost, it's Axe Form needed to be improved; base World touched on that with the mobility, but Iceborne's changes really made it worth Switching on Switch Axe

That could be said for any weapon

Right...

And what makes you think that a bow, hammer, hbg, lbg, gs, ls, db, sns, gl, lance, are on the same stage as being forgiven weapons? SA is unique in this because its the one of the least forgiving weapons ;)
At this point SA and CB are the only two weapons i've never played, but i keep seeing lads killing it with the SA, starting to think about trying it out soon enough thanks to Iceborne.

SA really good now. Only down side is no option to avoid aoe or attack that has large hitbox. Example, charge tail spin of Glavenus. If I was at his feet. 80% of the time I will get hit. 20 % I happen to roll far out of range or iframe god mode active and I iframe it. I has no problem with regular attack playing SA. Fade slash help me get out of the way before monster attack.

What about sheathing and diving? Most examples of such attacks give you enough notice to do so.

There's a safe spot right behind him when he spins. Don't have to i-frame or anything. Just stand there. So essentially, positioning. Same could be said about most other large attacks that can't be rolled through.
The only thing bad about switchaxe is its opening move
