What are the best hammers right now?
All I know is that raw damage is the best for hammer and chaos shatterer is the highest raw dmg i can see on the tree (with -25% affinity). But is it reliable for mid-late game iceborne? Are there any better hammers in the future I should keep an eye out for?

Acid Glav hammer is the best in the game right now. Guild Palace one also is pretty solid but needs Peak Performance.

Ishvala hammer is also one of the best right night now.
The chicken leg hammer is surprisingly good.

Acidic Glav -> Shara -> Ruiner, top three hammers

Grinding Mallet is technically 'the best' but it doesn't have alot of purple or white sharpness, even with 5 Handicraft. Protective polish, speed sharpening, razor sharp. All things to consider. Non-elemental is desirable. You can get this one pretty early in MR too, compared to other options.

Dawning Tranquility and Royal Cross Mace (I'm personally using this one) are also worth considering. Non-elemental for these too.

The final Nergi weapon seems like a nice option to slot in on a set if you don't want to commit to Handicraft. Maybe even an elder slayer set built for a specific elder (Kush or Kirin)? You need to fight Ruiner Nergi to fully upgrade though.

Now that Rajang is out I think it's hammer might be pretty good too.

Juicy Well Done Hammer!

The meat hammer was hella buffed from previous games in both stats and design so it's actually viable.

The purple is easy to maintain, it's the best Hammer for now.

Dawning tranquillity just for the looks, slapping monster with a big hand is just too satisfying

Grinding Mallet, Mane Malice Rajang, Ruinous Obliteration, Juicy Well-Done Hammer and Dawning Tranquility are all top tier Hammers.

You'll squeeze a little bit more out of the Grinding Mallet if you bother with Handicraft and all the stuff surrounding that, otherwise if you're lazy or don't really care about maximum damage use something else, whatever suits your mood I guess.

I flit between The Grinding Mallet and Mane Malice Rajang, mostly because of the size four decoration slot it has on it more than anything. Grinding Mallet gets purple sharpness but requires heavy investment to reach, Mane Malice Rajang only gets white but achieves that with a single point in Handicraft (easily slottable into the Hammer itself, etc)

Ruinous Obliteration has some pretty sweet effects on it ngl

Any hammer that is an axe is the best hammer because axes are better hammers.

actually, it's lbg now, rapid stickies ftw!

Personally, I'd go with the meat hammer, probably not the best dps since it only gets blue sharpness, but slapping monsters with your meat is too much fun.
