Rajang feels poorly designed.
This isn't about his speed or his damage. Both of which feel fairly designed and make the fight an interesting experience. It's nice to have a monster that forces you to stay on your toes and be ready to dodge at any moment. This isn't really about that.

His hitboxes and his recovery frames feel really poorly thought out however. Speaking as a longsword here, I've foresight slashed into his body and had him miss me by attacking with his body, seeing fists phase through my character without either hitting me out of the attack or triggering the reprisal. I'm pretty sure that if he's literally punching me, he should probably be literally punching me and when fishing for counters, his fists being in a quantum superposition feels unfair.

Likewise, some of his attacks feel like his AI isn't using them right. Watching him butt dive the air with nothing behind him is a little questionable the first time. Watching his AI alternate between butt dives and lasers is just kinda "Okay, I'll just be over here until you finish attacking the air and decide to fight me again."

Finally, some of his attacks feel like they don't really have any weight to them or followthrough animation. It's weird watching him go from one attack to the next basically instantly with the cornering of an F1 car. It's strange as all hell watching him successfully punish Iai SS by turning around and hitting where I am when the attack finishes after I dash through him, let alone doing it for ~40% of my health or so.

He's plenty fast, and his hitboxes feel like they're supposed to be balanced for his speed, but more deadly and difficult than Barioth. Many of his attacks have that property and it makes it a really fun fight when he's using them. Then he runs headfirst into a wall when nothing is in front of him and you get knocked over because the tip of his tail is a hitbox and it just leaves me questioning why he's doing a mating dance with the wall and how a tiny cottonball at the tip of his tail launched my character when I poked it with my sword.

Well good for you you're wrong.

Would you care to explain your stance with words?

He seems fine to me.
He has the mechanic of some monsters where if you eat or block one tick of a hit, you avoid the rest. (Beam for example)
This can cause inconsistencies potentially.

Yeah. Once he starts an attack, he'll keep going, and that's fair. I saw him actively start up attacks that couldn't hit either me or my cat no matter how hard he could turn though. Literally attacking the wrong direction, and I think he should be a bit better about attacking where I am and not the air since it's kinda weird to watch him decide he really, really wants to pummel this particular wall right now.

I tried blocking his super slam of death attack. Full health, full stamina, guard 5 with lance. He didn't care at all.

His hitboxes are just fine and his attacks while the same are altered from previous, they moved his ending frames to different attack, as long as you don't get stupid he can go down relatively easy.

he often does his backwards kick to reposition himself kind of like a long sword users fade slash or a bow's back hop but the fact he cant stop his long attack after he starts it is one of his main weak points

I killed him first time through with just one cart (He got me after a successful Iai SS counter). He's not actually all that hard, but he doesn't feel well designed, and being the same as earlier editions doesn't help. We all know the tales of Plesioth's quantum hipcheck.

Also it just feels weird for him to do his backhop attack when there's nothing behind him and just hump a wall with it. He's a high speed melee aggressor, having him hump a wall with his butt while you get free damage on his face is kinda out-of-character.

He has way to high defense against Spread. Where only his head is giving yellow numbers.

Even when you wound a part you won't deal that much more damage. It's one of the main reason why I hate him.

Tbh, that makes me happy. I'm a little tired of Loyal Thunder HBG Spread Meta and it's nice to have stuff where that just plain doesn't work.

Don’t worry, HBG has sticky, to keep the monkey down, cluster to clean the floor with him XD

Follow up to this. I found a video of someone fighting him with Greatsword, and rajang using his spindash and outright hitting the person fighting him with both of his back legs at like 50 MPH and not even taking damage because apparently high speed monkey legs are actually not a hitbox.
