MR 3-star monsters?

Anyone else having a difficult time with the 3-star quests? HUGE spike in difficulty from 1 and 2 star, tigrex will slightly breathe on my and take out half my health bar.

What am I doing wrong?

Are you still wearing high rank armor?

You're doing nothing wrong, friend. You're just at the part where the game hits that spike.

Farm some gear for much needed def and eat for Def L, that's my recommendation

Tigrex is an annoyance to be sure. It was around here that I recall finally dropping my High Rank weaponry and starting to care about building proper Master Rank armour, etc. Loss of the Health Regen Augment meant there was a pseudo difficulty spike around here, if I recall, but once I put Glavenus in the ground and successfully hunted a Diablos / Black Diablos to make a gear set I was happy with, things got a whole lot easier.

Persevere!

The game does get a lot easier when you unlock augments for your armour and weapons again. It almost returns to what it felt like in High Rank, except for a few problem monsters with annoying quirks, I guess.
