And no the subspecies now is a lot lot better than previous games as it is it own fight
And redrawing? What redrawing? You mean the sub species that act almost completely differently?
Fire up SoS to get some help and use armour pieces with the most slots for deco/jewels. It gets easier later on when you get a proper build.
Farm event quests for decos, like "my name is lavasioth" which gives tons of jewels or the one that you can finish in 30 seconds, "flora frostbite".

Have you made sure that youre using master rank gear and not still playing with the old high rank gear, as high rank gear becomes obsolete really fast.
If you could specify exactly what aspects youre struggling with, I'd be happy to give you some tips!
Make and upgrade MR armor starting with something easy like great jagras, bone, or alloy to get the defense increase and upgrade to a master rank weapon and go from there.
Make sure the MR weapon is actually stronger than defender or whatever you used previously cause some aren't as good.
I will say that I feel solo is more annoying now with the tenderizing mechanic. Much easier to tenderize in multiplayer where the monster isn't aggroing you as much. Pretty much need Rocksteady and/or Temporal to reliably tenderize the monster in solo unless you're wasting good attack opportunities to do it such as when the monster is down.
I wish the tenderizing lasted longer in solo play than it did in multiplayer. That's my only gripe with soloing monsters in Iceborne, though. It's not difficult and once you've got decent gear it doesn't take much longer than vanilla either.
When the monster has a yellow eye on the minimap it means its not enraged you can then grapple on to its head use the claw to reposition it and fire your slinger burst while still grabing it to wall slam it.
It deals masive damage and lets you do a full max damage combo on most wepons.
It should not take you longer than 20-30 minutes even if you are not super skilled.
1) Attack all the time? Why, yes, this is Master Rank. Is it not appropriate for monsters to be more aggressive in the harder difficulty? Does that mean they have no openings? Far from it.
2) Special attacks are OP? Any attack is OP if you're not prepared for it, just like HR Nergi's dive.
3) No subspecies or variants allowed? I see nothing wrong with this when they're effective - move very differently compared to their LR/HR versions and giving some players hell.
I can't wait for your rage thread when you hit the true early MR wall, but who knows if you'll rage quit between now and then.
