Iceborn is unplayable in Solo...
After the third of the initial monsters, the game is not playable and frustrating when playing solo. The monsters have ridiculous hp. Attack all the time with a lot of damage and special attacks are just OP. Already I will not even mention that the big disappointment was the redrawing of old monsters, I expected it to be lots and only new beasts. just embarrassment ... capcom

Have you replaced all your HR armor with MR armor yet because the armor values are alot higher also if your having a hard time with monster just use a weapon with a shield like a lance. On top of this sub species have always been in the series for quite some time.

Welcome to G-rank
And no the subspecies now is a lot lot better than previous games as it is it own fight

Not at all. Just gotta not be bad. I have solo'd every creature, its just takes a little more time then high rank is all.

And redrawing? What redrawing? You mean the sub species that act almost completely differently?

It's tough at first in solo because you don't get access to the good armor sets and don't know the monster movesets very well.

Fire up SoS to get some help and use armour pieces with the most slots for deco/jewels. It gets easier later on when you get a proper build.

Farm event quests for decos, like "my name is lavasioth" which gives tons of jewels or the one that you can finish in 30 seconds, "flora frostbite".

All content from the base game and the Iceborne expansion with the exception of certain event monsters (Ancient Leshen and Extreme Behemoth) can be done solo and is scaled to fit the damage output of a single player.

Have you made sure that youre using master rank gear and not still playing with the old high rank gear, as high rank gear becomes obsolete really fast.
If you could specify exactly what aspects youre struggling with, I'd be happy to give you some tips!

Welp this is where they weed out the bad players that don't want to improve and expect to have a kushy ride through new and actually difficult content.
Make and upgrade MR armor starting with something easy like great jagras, bone, or alloy to get the defense increase and upgrade to a master rank weapon and go from there.
Make sure the MR weapon is actually stronger than defender or whatever you used previously cause some aren't as good.

What now? It is perfectly soloable and variants are nothing new in monster hunter.
git gud or rage quit

I've done all the monster in Iceborne solo. It was actually easier than soloing all the monsters in the base game for me personally.

I will say that I feel solo is more annoying now with the tenderizing mechanic. Much easier to tenderize in multiplayer where the monster isn't aggroing you as much. Pretty much need Rocksteady and/or Temporal to reliably tenderize the monster in solo unless you're wasting good attack opportunities to do it such as when the monster is down.

I wish the tenderizing lasted longer in solo play than it did in multiplayer. That's my only gripe with soloing monsters in Iceborne, though. It's not difficult and once you've got decent gear it doesn't take much longer than vanilla either.

Fake news.

Upgrade you gear and learn to use the clutch Claw.
When the monster has a yellow eye on the minimap it means its not enraged you can then grapple on to its head use the claw to reposition it and fire your slinger burst while still grabing it to wall slam it.
It deals masive damage and lets you do a full max damage combo on most wepons.

It should not take you longer than 20-30 minutes even if you are not super skilled.

Pretty much this. MR monsters have a lot of health, but far from unplayable solo. I bought the master edition for PS4 post launch and sped through the base game. Sure, it took me at least 20 minutes to beat those three, but it's possible.

1) Attack all the time? Why, yes, this is Master Rank. Is it not appropriate for monsters to be more aggressive in the harder difficulty? Does that mean they have no openings? Far from it.
2) Special attacks are OP? Any attack is OP if you're not prepared for it, just like HR Nergi's dive.
3) No subspecies or variants allowed? I see nothing wrong with this when they're effective - move very differently compared to their LR/HR versions and giving some players hell.

I can't wait for your rage thread when you hit the true early MR wall, but who knows if you'll rage quit between now and then.

I used to think that too way back in MHF2. But after trying different weapons, getting used to the combat flow and a lot of practice, solo is my preferred style of play for all of the MH games. Heck, back in MH3U, there wasn't any online MP so I had to all the G-Rank quests myself.

Assuming everyone is similarly geared, if things are dying faster in multiplayer for you, then chances are you're just bad. Things in solo play have reduced health and status/flinch thresholds compared to multiplayer and this usually equates to an easier overall hunt.
