♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, why do Iceborne monsters have so much HP?!
Like, they don't even hit that hard, but it feels like they have more HP than Xeno!

They actually do, for the most part. Beotodus has around the same HP as Xeno (14,616 vs 15,150 for Assignged quest Xeno, according to Kiranico).

By 2-Star MR quests, I don't think any monster has less health than Xeno.

What weapon are you using?

A part of increased difficulty is endurance. Can you go longer with fewer mistakes?

Also, your weapons and armor are likely not at their greatest potential. Once you get properly geared again, and you've adapted to the new moves the monsters and yourself have available, your hunt times will drop significantly again.

Higher HP to combat the higher damage potential you can do, which further improves when you augment weapons.

You need weaken it's armor skin :)

The above. Stronger gear requires stronger monsters. Guiding lands monsters have 51k hp or 55k tempered with 4 player scaling. To put that in perspective, extremoth has 66k or 68k can't remember exactly.

At the moment MR monsters do have a greater Health Boost compared to HR than players get a damage boost with MR Gear compared to HR Gear. So it's a fact that hunt times are increased in Iceborne.

BUT you also have to take into account that we are in early Iceborne content. It's like when Nergigante Beta HR armor was the best you could get back in early Vanilla content. Only further releaed content like Gamma Armor made you strong enough to get the fast kill times in HR. I think it will be the same in Iceborne with further Gear like Safi'Jica weapons and further content updates.

Some Iceborne monsters such as Yian Gaurga have tough skin so you need to use the clutch claw and a weapon attack to injure/soften part of their body, otherwise you wont do much damage.

Also they probably do have higher defence and health because that Xeno is a High Rank monster. A Master Rank Teo has a lot higher attack, defence and health than a High Rank Teo for example ^^

If your using Kulve weapons you may need to replace them with some master rank weapons instead. Also I think clutch claw weapon attacks a lot eat of your sharpness for some weapons so you may need to sharpen your weapon more :)

lol Ok good, so it's not just my imagination then.

Right now I'm using Chrome Halberd, because I saw Level 4 Normal Shelling and was like, hell yeah I'm getting in on that! :steamhappy:

I'm jumping on the too-much-HP-bandwagon. It's just kind of ridiculous now. It doesn't feel right.

Yeah they bloated the monster HP too much, dragging the fight too long for no reason and it is getting boring. Even with my Gold Rath CB with Attack Boost 4 + Agitator 4 the hunt still takes me 15 minutes solo for T2 Tempered monsters, compared to HR T3 Tempered hunt only last for 5 minutes using Diablos Tyrannis II.

Well, I guess the good news is you can actually do non-elder multiplayer hunts now without the fight ending before you even get to the monster lol

I think the current HP is a reasonable compromise. I'm so glad I doesn't take me 40 minutes to solo a master rank monster like it would a classic G Rank Monster, but the clear times in HR were way too stupid fast.
Reliantlers Feb 4, 2020 @ 6:24am
i think it's a good compromise, HR monsters were too quick, while G rank monsters took too long (they were scaled for 2 players/60% health increase regardless of players in the hunt!!)
