french hunter
So, I'm french, and I see many memes about french hunter, and some of them are quite... harsh. So, I wondered why? If someone can explain it to me, I would be really grateful.

Well, at one time when MH was just released with online play, mounting was a relatively new mechanic and IG was probably the best way to perform it. If you didn't personalise your shoutouts, it would say "I've mounted the monster" in your default language.. which in french was "Je suis monté".
However, Mounting had diminishing returns back then i believe.. and just like how bad aerial IG users has it's share of dislike in MHW, it was unfortunate that the french are called out for being the bad IG players just by how outlandish "Je suis monté" sounded to the english speaking audience. It became a stereotype that french IG users were just bad players.

TL:DR, There are bad players everywhere. The bad French Aerial IG users became a meme because of the auto-shoutout "Je suis monté" because they were constantly spamming aerial attacks and weren't doing optimal DPS.

The only 'french' monster hunter meme I know is 'Je suis monté' which comes from an older installment of the series that was the first with a french localization and it also introduced the Insect Glaive so you had french hunters doing mounts all the time spamming 'Je suis monté' because they used the french localization.

I have seen the joke about the insectglaive user "Je suis montée" (I'm on the monster) often, the one bashing the "fuc**** french duals moron" and one about how disgusted when a french enter the session, who end up either expulsing them or ruining its hunt, by joining and quiting, thus raising up the difficulty level, or killing the monster when it's capture, or trip them as often they could.

Oh, okay, didn't know about the localisation thing, tought it was a stereotype about french playing insectglaive.
Wich, well, I'm useless with this weapon. I can memorize the charge blade combo no problem, but the kinsect... forget it .

Okay, I liked the series. But holy sh**. It's where it come from? Seriously? I thought we really has bad reputation, but it came from a animated video. XD

It's more like a lot of french people started to play the game in MP with french language on. That video was probably made long after the french people had been playing the game.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

This "je suis monte" would also sometimes be followed for the default French shoutout for carting, "Pardon..."

'Je suis monté' was a meme from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. 4U was the first 4th Gen game released outside of Japan, and with it brought Charge Blade and Insect Glaive. The glaive was heavily designed towards mounting the monster, and 'Je suis monté' was the default quote for French copies of the game. Well, for whatever God forsaken reason, French players only played Glaive, and were HORRENDOUS at it, and basically gave the French a worse name than World War 2.
