Just picked up the Zinogre HBG...

I'm not really sure what to do. Friends told me to try ranged weapons, so I settled on a cool looking HBG, the Mightning + to be exact.

They told me to put on 2 Guard Up, Deviation Suppressor, and 2 of whatever ya want. They said Loyal Thunder is really strong - currently working towards it.

Any HBG experts willing to gimme some tips?
ALSO CAN SOMEONE ANSWER THIS URGENT QUESTION:
"DO TEMPERED MONSTERS HAVE MORE HP OR HIT HARDER? OR BOTH?"

Both to your tempered monster question. They basically have inflated stats and I think maybe 1/2 new moves? But idk if that goes for all of them.

tempered monsters hit harder and have more hp. Master rank variants of high rank monsters have different moves, and archtempered elder dragons will have new moves on top of their high rank moveset.

Zino HBG is disgustingly overtuned but it's primary playstyle is Spread 3 with triple shield mod, one recoil suppressor and a close range mod. Depending on what decorations you have there are several really strong builds for it but you should upgrade it to Loyal Thunder asap so you can get some augments on it.

Loyal Thunder is disgusting, you chose well.

I never really used HBG in MHW seriously, but I made a build for it, I made in unnecessarily safe as well with guard 5, vitality, and guard up skills. The only offence I had was the standard 100% affinity and crit boost. 3 shield mods, recoil and close up mods for maximum safety as well.

The first hunt I did, barely knowing the controls, I killed Zinogre with Mightning+ nearly as fast as I did with my (almost) optimal dps hammer set. I didn't even have two spread decorations, nor was the weapon fully upgraded. And because of the stupidly powerful shield, I was under zero danger the entire hunt. I just pointed it at the head and kept shooting, that's it. It's, by far, the safest and easiest way to hunt monsters, and it's also really fast to boot. Also very boring, I definitely recomend switching to a full dps build. It's both more powerful and more exciting.

After playing Pierce HBG for most of Iceborne, I tried out the Mightning+ yesterday with 3 close range up, special scope and recoil suppressor mods, but this was way too glass cannon for me and I ended up carting about six times to Tigrex.

I would recommend going 1 or 2 shield mods and between 3-5 Guard skill if you are still getting a feel for the weapon, as you will be in melee range on a weapon class that takes increased damage from melee attacks and you will get one-shotted if you do not guard or roll out of the way on time.

Zinogre tree is great though, big damage and very easy to break parts.

Lose the deviation suppressor. The zin hbg has low enough deviation to not need it at all. Just adjust for the deviation manually.

Yeah the Loyal Thunder is absolutely ridiculous and I love it. With the optimal Guard 5 + Guard Up + 3 shield mods I can tank literally any attack in the game and take little/no chip damage. But it also does a LOT of damage in return to the monsters, assuming you have crit eye, etc... Fun gun.

If you have the set bonus from latest Vaal Hazak gear you can give up on some Guard decorations because you'll just regen it all up with Regen speed on rank 3.

You still get pretty decent damage and more defense at the same time. I also used Gold Rathian to get Divine protection 5 so I completely ignore the Guard decorations.

Damage depends on the monster you fight but it's still good.

You're getting careless with your shot timing if you're carting that much with Zin's HBG.

I'm using the same build and I basically destroy everything. But Tempered Savage Jho still kicked my poop in.
