The fail rate for Shara Ishvalda is insane in a group
I want to farm this thing in a group to take away some of the tedium of the first half of this fight but my god I think I have have like 6 failed attempts on him in a row now with groups. That mouth beam seems to be magnetized to people with the amount of runs it ends

Soloing it is far easier.

I know it is but I like to group play most monsters after beating them solo. I was just pointing out this monster has a weirdly high fail rate.

Several reasons:

1. Many range players had no idea with Shara's move. Sure melee had no idea either, BUT for melee, they had the defence bonus to make mistakes. Range is generally one shot.

2. While people pay attention to the monster, they rarely look on the ground. Quick sand -> Trap -> Explode -> Shara Laser -> Cart.

3. Shara had a lot of HP, the longer the fight, the more likely people will die.

4. There are always a natural barrier that separates less competent players and decent players. For example, before Iceborne there were HR29 double Blaze and HR49 Temper Kirin. In Iceborne, there are Barioth, Velkhana and Shara.

Sounds about the same as ol' AT Xeno then. Solo it if you wanna clear it.
I assume it's way worse with more people since Shara won't focus on just you, so the easy to walk around beams might randomly hit you when it's aiming for other people.
I joined a session that was looking to farm shara specifically and didn't fail once even with a few SOS. You probably got unlucky with people that might not know they can hug shara and roll behind the mouth beam in-between the head and wings.
Try to do the same and get some prep in like health boost 3 or other lifesaving skills or felyne skills like safeguard that will save you. Also direction to focus head only for tenderplates can be helpful.

creating a thread to forget the fact that the only consistent thing in all the quest you failed was you
well i mean if hes not carting then it really isnt his fault.
I'd definetly recommend doing Shara Ishvalda solo if you need any of her parts.
It's easier to focus the head and get the tenderplates when playing solo and it also gives you a much higher succes ratio as I've seen that most random hunters really struggle with her and tend to kart a lot.

If you do want to play with a group then it's a bit of a hit and miss with randoms so you could always ask some friends or people on the forums to join you!
I'm just thinking of all the people who use rocksteady as a Plan B for temporal getting blasted to oblivion by the hyperbeam wing attack. gotta love sitting in the middle of all that air and getting tossed back to camp lunastra style.

As much as I want to experience that busted armor skill... I really don't want to fight that thing more than I have to.
Man, the inevitable AT Shara is gonna be fun. Sure hope it at least skips the boring rock armor phase.

The part I love is how with Guard Up, Guard +5, and a 4 Shield HBG you still get chipped for 90% of your stamina and 50% of your life
If you're talkin bout the beam. You literally walk slowly sideways and it'll miss so you never have to worry bout that.
If you're able to block, you're able to walk.

Im talking if you get caught in that scenario of Block or Die. I've wound up in the wrong spot at the wrong time before. And yes you can strafe the beam easily.

First SOS I did for Shara for some ♥♥♥♥ I just ran Sticky spam HBG on his head. All KOs make people gravitate towards the head as well as give damage opportunities. Though it was literally on one faint left. I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ battle-carved that ♥♥♥♥ so fast.
Shara has lots of HP and high damage moves, the long hunt makes it easier for awkward situations to happen.

being tossed by a quicksand pit into antoher quicksand pit then followed up by shara beam is the worse combo ever.
Exactly this xD Or getting the wrong animation after being hit by the beam, getting back up while beam is still going on and getting cartet before you could even regain control of your character.
All to do with your position and how you control one of its moves. You can litterally controll where you drop the quicksand puddles :p
Probably because its one-shotting beam attacks are practically invisible. That's how I always end up KO'd :steamsad:
