Glavenus is a great monster to develop advanced skills.
Anyone who wants to improve more on stun mechanics, counters, monster tells, roar timings and positioning should run a few fights against Glavenus. Charge Blade users and Longsword especially if you want to master Guard Point or Weep sweep.

He's an extremely fun fight that can teach you a lot about MHW. The monster has a great moveset, easy to understand tells and generous timing for heals if something goes wrong.

I find myself constantly coming back to him to get my GP timing down along with clutch claw mastery. He can be fought in any given space without overwhelming the player and has no BS moves or mechanics to worry about(looking at you black diablo, you practically live underground).

It's a fight worth investing time into in order to establish a better comfort with your choice of weapons along with understand how rolling iframes and safe zones on the monster work. He also has a great mechanic(tail sharpening) which let's you focus on going full defense or how to be aggressive in order to "punish" weakspots.

His brother is also no different. He presents the opportunity to further improve by teaching debuff management and tactical retreats for heals if needed.

Hell of a fun fight. By far my favorite monster in the game.

Havent run GS yet. Still on hammer.

But he would be pretty good, I think. Would teach you how to deal with the positioning of attacks and his mechanic is great for timing aggressive movements

An additional tip for LS players. Practice hunting zinogre. Glav lets you know about when to counter and zinogre will let you know how to deal with combo attacks.

Would've though one of the Odos (though mainly regular) would be better for that.

Doesn't regular Odo whiff most attacks if you just walk forward into it?

Move a mm to the side and he misses.

Odo punishes wrong positioning. For newer players, often times they end up rolling toward one of his attacks out of panic which ends up with them getting nailed.

Odogaron is a very good fight for learning how to deal with and position against fast monsters. His hitboxes are beyond generous (which zinogre is not, his hitboxes are like a truck ready to isekai you into the next light novel), he feints his attacks and ends up in predictable positions you can take advantage of, and is very easy to stun/break parts.

Everytime I fight odo solo, it's like a dance between me and him.

For me at least was my first wall, ive never fight him before so getting that feeling when you gotta learn the monster moveset and see how can you punish him is really fun, also the feeling when slowly you are getting used to the attacks during the fight is really satisfying.

He's good, but he has very fair hitboxes and will not train players to properly deal with other monsters where you can get hit standing in places you should be safe. Skill is also a very per-monster basis, so I don't agree that fighting a single one will make you much, if any, better at the others.

Well some of odos attacks are so strange that even you don't dodge it, it doesn't hit you and that is a bit of pain in the ass for LS because LS needs to get hit and counter. I'd say odo is more difficult than zinogre but it is good for practicing positioning.
Fun fights fo sho

I agree. If you're having trouble fighting a monster, you should be practicing against that monster. Sure, if you're learning a new weapon then fighting something like glav might help you familiarize yourself with your moveset, but learning the timing to say, roll through his roar, doesnt mean it'll help you do the same against other mons' roars since they have different timings.
