If you inspect your set and the numbers for elemental damage turn ORANGE, then you've hit the cap for that particular weapon. Green just means it's an improvement from whatever you have equipped.
I'm unsure how elemental augments affect the elemental damage cap.
i have an SnS with 710 lighting damage
a friend who is a hunting horn user
armor that has enough slots to max out both an elemental stat, and have coalesence 3 on it.
have HH user give you any and all elemental damage buffs. get poisoned or blighted and cure it. have a weapon equipped with the highest elemental value, augmented purely for more elemental value.
the you'll know what the highest cap is, the effort to reach it, and ultimately how meaningless it is xD.
because the rest of your damage suffers.
but for something like Kulve, i could see like a frozen tuna GS maxed out for elemental damage being hillarious in the damage numbers you could get on the horns.
