Why everything needs to have wings?
I mean the monsters design are cool and everything but why do everyone needs to have wings? deviljho is the only meaningful one without them and some would really be better without them, like teostra could have a quimera look and not just a lion with wings.

the monsters in the monster hunter series are based off of wyverns and monsters share skeletons. anji = pickle joe. jagras = kulve taroth, and so on. there are some extreme cases with primates and insects in older games but the general theme is wyvern.

so expect many monsters to have wings or fins in their place and expect a lot of copy pasting basic designs. example being, in the upcoming dlc expansion, the crawling wyvern line up is expected to get added in (they walk using their wings like a bat)

I get it, but in some cases it doesn't even make sense. Take diablos, he should be a giant mole, but no, they made him a rock dragon with giant useless wings because of their weird dragon / wyvern fetish.

the primates were classified under beast wyvern if im not mistaken. dont remember what insectoids got classified as if anything, but there werent too many of em. vespoid queen, seltas + queen, and astalos are the only ones i can recall ever having any real drive to hunt for any given reason.

I admit that seeing him flying with a full belly would be hilarious

Pretty much all the old monsters from MH1 and MH2 had wings if they were classified as Flying Wyverns (Diablos is as well). Didn't really matter if they used them. As mentioned, this was because only a few "Skeletons" were in the game to save space and a lot of monsters therefore shared a lot of animations and attacks.

The Brute Wyvern class was added with MH3, one specific feature amongst them is the lack of wings, Barroth, Uragaan, Domdo, Devil Jho etc.

There's a lot of monsters without wings in MH series but this is MHW and like 80% of monsters are not in this game.

There are no pelagus, no insects, just 2 levianthan, no amphibian...

Dear god, a deviljho with wings. What a terrifying thought.

The beasts were classified as fanged beasts starting in Gen 3. Before that they were called Pelagus.

I'm sure in coming expansions we will get a few more diverese types. Sounds like iceborne will have pseudowyverns but I wouldn't be surprised if we got some beastial monsters like Bulldrome, blangonga and lagombi... on second thought let's not have Bulldrome.

Well, I always thought Teostra was closer to a manticore, so it makes sense that he has wings and not a snake tail...
