Any way to blacklist players? Just got trolled
I figured I'd SOS since I was bored of farming on my own.
Some guy with a chinese name joined my 2 person Lunastra investigation, they left almost immediately after joining, and I didn't think much of it until I saw "10 minutes left" and ended up running out of time because the monster HP got scaled up for multiplayer. I figure they were trolling, either way I don't want them around anymore.
Can I block someone from joining my quests again?

Go to options
On the first page there is an options for quest join acceptance. Change it from automatic to "Manual accept".
Now you can accept or reject quest joiners as you please.
This will apply to every quest. Turn it off if you just want people to join instantly.
I use it to stop the same carting player or hackers s from joining my successive hunts.

There is no official way to blocm them however, you'll just have to remember their name.

leaving their steam ID here so other people can block them too
Don't think that you can, although you could block their profiles on steam but I don't think that it will do anything to stop them from being able to join your SOS flares...

That really sucks, we need a way to deal with trolls
Tthanks :/

Other than trolling, it also could be that they somehow can't connect to your network or some kind of failure between you and them.

You should note that MHW is still using some kind of P2P multiplayer system. Meaning that how good the host is will decide whether other players able to play or not and the term of "good" itself may vary due to various factors which could comes from you, them or something between (ie: the range between where you and they are)

There also could be some kind of bad luck happening, eg: blackout, their ISP sudden failure, mobile signals out, etc. I once had this where my phone which I used as mobile hotspot suddenly timed out due to app update which just after I joined a SOS and caused me to disconnected. I wanted to rejoin the host later by using that "Recently Played" list and try to join session > join quest. But somehow I couldn't join the host session while I could join the other players's session whom was in same party before just fine.

If those players doing it repeatedly upon you then that is trolling.

Raging about the guy just because he left after joining seems like an overreaction. Any specific reason you set the player limit to 2?

That's the investigation's conditions, I didn't set it
he also made no attempt to come back in the 25 or so minutes I was there, so I think I'm justified

There's a chance it was mandated to be max 2 by the quest itself.

Oh, whoops.

I can confirm that blocking their Steam profiles does nothing at all.
Also firing a flare for a 2p investigation is a terrible idea in general.

Sounds more like a connection stability problem, they can just barely join your quest but once in game the additional packets just causes more instability and kicks the player out.

I can say, that I was kicked out plenty of time, with some random connection error, and was unable to rejoin.

just look at the guide section, there is plenty of `solutions` but none work. thats way I now only join if there is people on the quest

so, maybe it was not a troll.

Theres no way he could come back if it was a 2player investigation. If someone drops out of a quest their slot is still occupied.
Also thinking he was trolling because of a single disconnect, in a game thats known to be prone to DCs, is quite the assumption..

The only way he could join back is if he finds the sessions and there's another spot open in the quest and he can join.
I got disconnected from my own quest, managed to join the same session and i joined back into my own quest cause the quest had one slot left open, ofc that meant i used 2 slots.

well its all based on steams match making system rather than sony on top of whatever server bank they are using for the game in each region. steam and other regions doesnt always play nice so SoS at your own peril till they figure a way around it.

though thats not likely to happen till iceborne is nearly upon us, or has been out a month.
