Lavasioth is such a pain

Just gonna rant. I know he's threat 2 and all but I've had better times with a Tempered Teostras than regular Lavasioths. I hate the whole hunt. The skin hardening mechanic, the fact that there's no recourse when he does that 3 pool dolphin dive, the fact that his weakness is water but you need to deal fire damage to soften him up.

I've held on to R4 tempered lavaioths because they were such a pain to hunt, I've tried all of the weapons except for glaive against it, but I can't get good times.

The worst part is, like Jho, Lavasioth isn't even worth the effort to hunt. Outside of greaves, and maybe 1 or 2 weapons(?) there's nothing out there to look forward to. And the hunts take such a long time by the time you've finished one tempered lavasioth you would've already finished 2 other tempered hunts.

Srsly screw lavasioth.

It's SUCH a slog to fight. I think it takes around 30 secs for a part to harden, and everytime it goes into that dolphin dive loop you can't engage it for about 20 seconds. And the ai makes it so that if its got hardened skin it will try to soften it up by diving.

The fireball and blast can be blocked with regular guard (no guard up needed) but sometimes the blocks get wonky, or lavasioth will intentionally miss you and shoot behind you, meaning you are now blocking in the wrong direction which means you've just earned a one way ticket to cartsville USA.

I know how to block it because I just expect it to spam it. SAED works yes, but only if you get enough phials, and once again, charging phials, weak ex, etc etc. It's also small meaning your SAED won't get full hits unless you hit downwind from the face or tail and depending on where you end up, you might get blasted.

What I do is I run gunlance and just spam normal 4's at its stupid face. It's the most consistent form of damage, and yes mind's eye can ignore the bounce, but not the additional defense.

It's also rather slippery for a lava blasting cannon with heavy armour so there's that too.

Man if it had an AT version I'd be all for it. Lavasioth should've been an elder dragon fight. The main problem with lavasioth is there's kind of no point to fighting it outside of just yknow... decorations, and even then the fights take so long you're better off running rathalos or odogaron or legiana since they all have the same rewards.

Maybe it is because I've always fought it with Long 4 Gunlance but it's the tempered fight that I do when I want something relaxing. 6-7 min, more or less, and it's something different from Legiana (and I'd rather fight Lavasioth than any Rath).

It's got so much health for something in the same region as the dodogama who just dies accidentally sometimes and that makes me really sad :(

but yeah it's just, annoying to fight lol. If it's in the sector with the erupting lava trap I will ALWAYS dung pod it because it getting to just sit there out of reach spitting wads of hot rock at you is the icing on the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cake. Not to mention half the times you mount the bastard it'll just swing its head over the out of bounds area and knock you off and there's nothing you can do about that.

Get Minds Eye from Jewel or Lunastra Set.
Use Water for consistent damage.
Use firepods to softern hard spots. Similarly, use Fire weapons with higher raw to keep the armor soft and improve your team's damage.

So they will release an Arch Tempered Lavasioth event in commemoration.

But ya... I don't see why it was hunted so much. It seems NO ONE likes it.

Lavasioth is indeed annoying, Unintuitively fire element weapons are OK for it since they keep the shell soft. However I just prefer CB, it goes down pretty effortlessly with CB. SAED explosions don't care about the shell and if you keep the sword charged you won't have any bounce when charging phials. I'd imagine a shelling GL would also be pretty good vs Lavasioth, but I'm not certain since I don't use them.

Pretty sure it's a typo. Great Jagras is the most hunted monster (which we're getting first), Lavasioth is the least hunted one.
