MHF Z monsters
do people hate the designs, mechanics, or both from monsters in this particular game? im curious why they're not in much of any other MH games. I'd prefer some1 who has played the game long enough to answer this.

So, back in like 2008/9, Frontier started, but only had two exclusive monsters, Lavasioth and Hypnocatrice. However, MH Freedom Unite used these two monsters, and caused fighting between the two dev teams. Ammends were made in MH3, agnaktor being the gift from the Frontier team, and Kuarusepusu being the gift to Frontier, as well as Frontier designing Loc Lac City, the hub for 3. It wasnt until Generations that the Frontier Team and Main Series Team (as well as Portable Team) worked together to make something, furthered more in GenU.
However, most of the Monsters in Frontier play a lot differently than Monsters in Main series, which is why we dont see them in Main series. This is due to the game being essentially a Gen 2 game on steroids, getting things beyond GRank, like Hardcore and Zenith. However, if World were the staple diet for Monster Hunter and consistantly updated for years to come like Frontier, then Frontier is a sign of what will happen to a MonHun game that lasts 10 years

Well. I have not played the game. But MHFZ has some of the coolest monster designs i have ever seen and i would love nothing more than for them to be in the main line mh games. I don't think too many people if anyone would disagree with this.

However i feel some of the mechanics behind the monsters might not be balanced for atleast MHW. They would probably have to rework some of the movesets for the monsters.

(God please i want to play with tonfas.)

ah okay, since i've been hearing mhw is the easiest game out of the MH series since it's supposely catered to bring in new players at first since there's going to be an expansion for harder stuff i assume.

Its easiest because of the QoL, but older games are harder due to tech limitation.

I think this is partially true. The older games were harder due to tech limitations, but they were also harder for lots of mechanics that they removed. Armour skills were different and weapon combos were more rigid about attack animations. You really had to be more prepared with the items you carried per monster and had to have knowledge of where a monster hangs out/eats, etc.
I mean I think the games were just harder. Some of it was tech issues like hit boxes and crappy cameras, but other mechanics were just more challenging on purpose.

I've taken down each monster and blasted through the story in this game super fast. Faster than any other, with less thought about what items I brought or what my gear was because it didn't even really matter. Not even at HR that much. I definitely would've carted in the old games if I had done that.

All that being said. This is the most fluid MH game in the series. In terms of combat and being easy to play, I also think it's the most "fun" in that regard. It badly needed the polish this version gave it. However, I preferred the old armour system.

World is essentially a testing ground for what does and doesnt work.

Good observation. This is very true.

I disagree. Plenty of them are actually quite ugly. And they even manage to turn old school monsters into ugly mess just by adding spikes just about everywhere.

Obviously, for people that find spikes to be cool, I can see where they're coming from, but that's definitely not my cup of tea.

He did say "I don't think too many people if anyone would disagree with this" though. So I put forward my disagreement.

But there must be some designs you love and would like to see.
I think Eruzerion, Inagami and Harudomerugu would be neat

I haven't really checked the whole roster in its entirety, but all of what I did actually check, (except maybe Pokaradon wich seems the less "frontier-y" of the frontier exclusive roster) definitely goes towards the ugly scale in my ratings.

Either they are way too full of spikes and other appendage in every directions, or/and have some color scheme that is way too...well...frontier-y. (Lolo/Ray Gougarf and Diorekkusu as examples of color theme I find being on the "too much" scale.)
(and yes, I dislike Valstrax design wise in GU, obviously :p)

(They even managed to butcher Shagaru Magala imo, >.<)

I've played MHF.

The issue is with that game you HAVE to use your i-frames because some of the attacks are so huge they're impossible to dodge. I'd love more flashy monsters/attacks in-game, but not to that extent tbh.

One of Frontier's biggest trademark over the other MonHun games is how it really ditches the hunter vs wyvern aesthetic and just go full out with fantasy dragons. It's what happens if the fantasy element of MonHun took steroids. That's why you get so many insane dragons decorated with spikes and appendages. Most of the monsters with designs the crazy designs you mentioned are elder dragons.

If the aesthetic of the main series(except Gen and GenU) is an important appeal too you then you'll hate about 80% of Frontier.
