Instant death during Vaal Hazak fight
Sometimes (not often) during Vaal Hazak tempered I die instantly from 100% to 0% health without any indication how that could have happened. For example, when I was playing with someone else, the other player got attacked, while I was standing literally twice the length of Vaal's model away from him. The other player carted and I carted right after, from 100% (right after finishing my health potion) to 0% in a single moment, without the boss even being near me or any attack animation touching me.
I use Effluvia Resistant 3 (so no sudden HP nerf possible) and I have Health Boost 3 (200 HP total) and 490 defense.
Does this happen to anyone else? Is it a bug?

vaal hazak has this massive damage gimmick when he "fakes death" and starts sucking in effluvia, as long as you are within range it will blow you up. That's the only "die for no reason" scenerio I see from him.

Yes but this has an animation, which my death didn't have. Like he was just standing there, quite some distance away and I died for literally no reason. That's not the first time that happened either, just curious because I think it's a bug of some sort.

Maybe I'll do that... if I do I'll probably post it here.

Your hp most likely got halved by his debuff which makes it insanely easy for any attack to 1shot you.

Could be a modded boss. It could explain the invisible attacks.

I brought this up basically when the game came out, here on PC. Sometimes, seems to really only happen with other people in the game, you just die and you don't know why. Nothing hit you, but you die. Other times I've noticed moves that ordinarily do very very little damage, do insane amounts of damage.

It was rare and I haven't really noticed it happening since I started playing again, so figured whatever was causing it was fixed.

i never encountered that to be honest, but that could also be me, having a lot of playtime in general with monster hunter titles, so im always aware of any statuses or possible things that could happen

I figured it was probably some technical issue, latency or framerate or something. It wasn't super common for me, back then. And I haven't noticed it happening to me at all the last few days I've been playing again.

I've had that happen right after release, too. But since I came back from taking a break, it doesn't happen as often anymore. Before release, it was far worse and far more often, but really only with Vaal Hazak and literally no other monster in the game.

that somehow really sounds like you were lagging, you were moving on your end but the game/server didnt got the info anymore that you were moving, so you got it, and when your connection all catched up again you died by just standing on your end.
that would be my only possible or logical explanation to it....
the same for example happens in rocket league, in the moment where you timeout or lag, you can still play the ball and shoot a goal, and all of a sudden the ball snaps away from you and bang you got scored on even though youre on the other end of the field and had the ball

I noticed it back then on most of the monsters that have a lot of particle effects. Which is why I figured it was a technical issue. Kush, Teost, Vaal. Rarely I would notice it on other monstes, but it was less rare on the ones with lots of particles.
